Re: My one year anniversary on a low oxalate/salicylate eating plan.

Thank you for the info. My initial searches have definitely turned up contradictory info and really nothing linking oxalates to RLS (except for this site). Like most of us, [...] I’m very interested in looking at how diet may influence RLS as an additional tool to lessen the symptoms. Thanks again....

Re: Clonazepam vs. Gabapentin/Lyrica

You can get a FitBit watch and monitor deep sleep and REM sleep with it. Benzodiazepines usually lower deep sleep and REM sleep when taken over a longer period. Also worth nothing: you could try some other opioid for RLS. Oxycodone is known to cause alertness and insomnia. You could try Morphine as...

Re: Iodine

A possible explanation could be that increased thyroid metabolism is causing the body to divert available iron to that purpose. I believe RLS occurs when available iron is not adequately distributed to needed locations in the body on a daily basis. You might look at “The Thyroid Reset Diet” by Alan...

Re: Iodine

Pretty much unchanged. I'm still not sure if the RLS symptoms are the result of an adjustment period/possible detox, or if they are permanently exacerbated by iodine. Naturally this clashes with my attempt to reduce my Oxycodone as far as possible ( http://bb.rls.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=11160 ). I'l...

Re: Clonazepam vs. Gabapentin/Lyrica

Quick update: Seems that 0.5mg Clonazepam allows me to lower my Oxycodone from 25mg (10mg around noon, 15mg in the evening) to 15mg (5mg/10mg). A few breakthrough symptoms here and there, but the insomina is almost completely gone: I fall asleep like a baby and the occasional symptoms occur only aft...

Re: My one year anniversary on a low oxalate/salicylate eating plan.

Thank you for your posts about oxalates. I’m very interested in learning more and hope you will recommend a few books, papers or web sites you believe would be very informative about oxalates. Thank you. Sally Norton specializes in oxalates: https://sallyknorton.com/ . If you search her name on you...

Re: Clonazepam vs. Gabapentin/Lyrica

Also, there has been some recent research that indicates that clonazepam MIGHT hasten the onset of dementia. Do you refer to studies like this? https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6325366/ I'm not a big fan of this study, to say the least. People who take benzos permanently will have some ...

Re: Clonazepam vs. Gabapentin/Lyrica

I'm not a fan of Clonazepam or benzos in general either, and I believe opioids are safest long-term solution for severe RLS patients -- in general. However, medicine is always a game of chances -- some drugs work better for some, worse for some others and not at all for the rest. I had some extremel...

Clonazepam vs. Gabapentin/Lyrica

I'm curious. There seems to be some consensus in the forum that Gabapentin/Lyrica/Horizant only helps a part of us sufferers. From my knowledge, Clonazepam works on the Gaba receptors too. Any experiences if there are similarities? Are there people here where Gabapentin/Lyrica helped but Clonazepam ...

Iodine

I'm afraid I'll have to go a bit off topic before I return to RLS. For years I have wondered about the state of my thyroid. My T3/T4 are normal, no Hashimoto antibodies, TSH was at the low end of the spectrum very close to hyperthyroidism (TSH in the range from 0.5 to 0.7). However, all my symptoms ...

Re: Gupta/DNRS/Limbic Re-training - Report on Progress

He is not as harsh as that. A manual comes with the course, basically a transcript of the videos, and this is a quote from it: "It is beneficial to let go of researching other theories and treatments, and just focus on the Gupta Program." I know he mentioned it somewhere else and gave more of an ex...

Re: Gupta/DNRS/Limbic Re-training - Report on Progress

Amazing news! I heard about Gupta a long time ago, and thought that his theories might have some merit. But I also was told that he forbids even to think/research about other treatments for 6 months, which is a big red flag for me. Is that still the case?

Re: Tired, Achy In The Afternoon

Hard to make a remote diagnosis, but there is something you should check out. Do the symptoms depend on the type of food? Are they the same after high-carb meals (western diet) and low-carb meals (predominantly fat and little carbs)? Might make sense to do an insulin/prediabetes array, ideally take ...

Re: Trazadone

Has anyone tried using Trazadone for rls ? I started thinking about it because it is a relatively safe, very old antidepressant that is now used mostly for sleep. I took it for 1-2 years. Can't say that it changed my RLS in any way (positive or negative), but I guess it helped me a bit to fall asle...
