Re: Iron Infusion Worked for me

Thanks Holland. I'm scheduled to have an iron tested next month before my doctor appointment. I'll take a closer look at the guidelines since my doctor got a resounding "not unless anaemic" response from the haematologist. My basic iron numbers have been all over the place probably because I have no...

Re: Iron Infusion Worked for me

I'd be willing to travel to try infusion. My medical health service is useless. My neurologist has no problem prescribing benzodiazepines and pregabalin but the hematologist will not consider it unless I'm anaemic. How can that make sense. I would have no idea how to doctor shop. I'm in Florida but ...

Re: Magnesium pills

I've been taking magnesium in pills and powders in tea or water. Besides some help with occasional constipation, I don't get relief from RLS. But my wife keeps pushing it on me so I've been doing this for at least five years and my RLS is worse than ever. No miracle cure but I'm sure it does not hurt.

Re: Melatonin (2nd attempt)

I've found that it works if used once but not on any kind of regular basis. I save it for last resort.

Re: Cold medicine

I agree, Benadryl is the biggest trigger I've known. First doctor I told I had RLS suggested I try Benadryl. Bad night and that was 25 years ago. NyQuil really sets me off.

Do hot baths work for everyone?

I take a very hot bath about every day. Often two. I empty the hot water tank into the tub and get between 108 and 112F. It almost always gives me some relief and often makes the RLS disappear for a while. I sometimes take one in the early evening and usually a second just before bed at 10 pm. I've ...

Re: Sequential compression device/air leg massager

I looked at Manamed PlasmaFlow online and it looks like it stimulates your calf. But my RLS is in my thighs. I used to think it was in my calfs decades ago when it was more of just a nuisance. Once it tuned into pain it was distinctly in my thighs. Once I controlled that pain with Lyrica the pain ma...

Re: Cannabis

Thanks Rustsmith for the explanation of how federal law comes into play. Even our little city has decided not to enforce possession but that does not change the law. At least in Co. you just walk down the street to a legal vendor and buy whatever you want? Don't see that happening here soon.

Re: Cannabis

In Florida MM was forced on the legislature by a voter driven constitutional amendment. That's about the only way anything is accomplished here except selling out to the developers and polluters. The legislature passed a law that only Epilepsy, Glaucoma, Cancer, Immune Deficiency, Lateral Sclerosis,...

Re: Ropinirole Dose

I'm surprised you didn't get beneficial effect from ropinirole initially. I thought it had cured me of RLS. That lasted a few days. Then higher and extended release doses for a year until I gave up on it. I often wonder if I took it occasionally if it might help but hate to add another drug to the m...

Re: Cannabis

I know how you feel. Last time my neurologist said "we are getting into the MM business". I hesitated to try, because I have used it recreationally and that does not help or hurt RLS. Since I live in a state it is still illegal, I don't know the THC/CBD content. I have an appointment in a couple of ...

Re: 'Caffeine and RLS

I stopped drinking caffeinated coffee a few years ago. My wife secretly reduced caffeine over a week until I was off. As a lifelong heavy drinker of caffeinated coffee I was surprised was so easy for me. I know decaf has some and I drink about 3 cups first thing in the morning if I don't have someth...

Re: Results of Botox injections

Ray, very interesting about your feet. When I weened off clonazepam after 20 years to try DAs, what I called freezing feet and kneecaps were the major side effects. It has lessened the last few years since I went back on clonazepam and now mostly only in my feet. I would not describe it tickle but n...

Re: Iron on an Empty Stomach

I've been taking 325 mg. Ferrous Sulphate iron as described for about 3 months. For the 6 months before I was taking 25 mg. Iron Bisglycinate I saw recommended on this site in the same fashion. Neither seemed to help. Before that I had quit taking chewable drugstore iron for about 6 months and reall...
