Are Repeated (Stuck) Thoughts Common In PLMD?
I've mentioned this before but not seen others mention it, but then again, I didn't outright ask. So now I'm asking. When my movements were bad, I experienced what I call "stuck thoughts". It was when one phrase, or one line from a song, or one brief scene repeated maddeningly when I was n...

Re: Cold Turkey off Ropinerole... Day5 of no sleep, how do I know if it's still augmentation
Mine is set to shut off after a bit too. Often I restart it and go through a couple cycles. I've read that people have experimented with placing the electrodes on trigger points or something like that. Well, let me tell you, I tried placing the electrodes on my legs. Made me almost willing to cut my...

Re: Cold Turkey off Ropinerole... Day5 of no sleep, how do I know if it's still augmentation
I was using TENS while weaning off Mirapex. While I can miss an occasional night, I've never had an extended period of not needing treatment. What I did find is that after living through augmentation, my "normal" symptoms that I once thought were intolerable that drove me to treatment were...

Re: Cold Turkey off Ropinerole... Day5 of no sleep, how do I know if it's still augmentation
Your description of "thrashing" reminds me of when my periodic limb movements were augmenting on Sinemet. My later movements were better described as flailing when on Mirapex. (There's a link in my profile to a home video if you're interested.) For me, once I finally went off all dopamine ...

Creative problem solving. Love it! It's the same principle that makes using a TENS Unit work for me.

Re: Got sleep? What's your jam?
When I get up with a bit more energy, I get restless. The clutter starts to bother me, so I usually end up cleaning. I too find it satisfying. Although that run (would be walk for me) through the woods Steve described sure sounds idyllic since I'm a country girl at heart. These city streets where I ...

@notnowdad I can understand your eagerness to have conversations about the things you are discovering as you search for solutions. It's hard when you feel you are on to something but others don't share your enthusiasm. Years ago I was on Sinemet and was having an awful time of it with inconsistent r...

Re: ESRD and 24/7 RLS
But now I have RLS during the day, during dialysis and at night until the opioids kick in... I've been to several doctors and my vitamin B,D and iron ferritin levels are fine... I'm in a life or death situation. RLS all the time AND dealing with dialysis is too much. I drink caffeine and chew tobac...

Re: Midnight Carbohydrate Snack
@debbluebird I'm curious about you saying "the Mirapex made me hungry". Did it make you want to eat to the point it was like a compulsive behavior? When I was on it I would get up during the night and cook. A snack just wasn't enough. It is a known possible side effect.

Re: RLS PLMD leaving scratches on legs
Just wondering if the scratches look like the repetitive scratching of an itch or more random scratches? I haven't had this problem but just thinking how when I lay on my side I automatically tuck the toes of my upper leg under the calf of the lower leg. It's always the top leg that has the worst PL...

Deb, did he specify what type of machine he is thinking of? Does he think Methadone is the culprit causing the central aspect of your events? Since you're not rushing into anything, maybe it would be a good idea to get those answers and ask over on cpaptalk if the information you are getting makes s...

Re: is it possible to find a long term solution
I too am grieved that those suffering so much have to fight so hard to get the needed help. I've been through a lot of meds too, and been accused of doctor shopping when my insurance changed and I could no longer go to the same doctor. Was treated very badly by the new doctor. Even with my treatment...

Re: Over 40 Years of RLS
Laura, I will contact you. As to the PLMD, seems even the docs don't agree on terminology. Some doctors are of the mind that limb movements in the presence of another sleep disorder are not to be termed PLMD. My limb movements have always been classified as PLMD even in the presence of other sleep d...
