Re: Can I use klonopin with Kratom
One thing to think of...what type of kratom are you using and how much do you take? From what I've read, even the so called sedating ones (reds, usually) can be invigorating if taken at a low dose - say 1-2 grams. They get sedating when you move up to 4-6 grams. Another thought. Can you take gabape...

Can I use klonopin with Kratom
I recently started Kratom and it is doing wonders! I was using it with cannabis and the combo worked great. Unfortunately I have to stop the cannabis for a month to pass a drug test. Since stopping cannabis I am having issues with my sleep...the kratom is controlling the movements very well. I have ...

Re: Marijuana and Sleep
Beth, I mean no disrespect but there are lots and lots of people who use cannabis daily and don't seem to suffer long term physical issues. In fact, a recent study came out that showed this. That being said, this study didn't assess for mental health issues...just physical and the only thing they fo...

Re: Drugs worse than condition- feeling hopeless
Beth, He is experienced with RLS but I agree about the doses- all the media hype about opiods sure isn't helping. I started using kratom 2 nights ago and it has been INCREDIBLE. I have had almost no movements and haven't taken any pharmaceuticals at all. I am praying it continues to work (1/2 teaspo...

Deb- just to clarify- some people can tolerate Lyrica but can't tolerate Gabapentin or Horizant?
Thanks,
Ethan

Re: Drugs worse than condition- feeling hopeless
I agree with Marc that side effects can go away with time, and something like 3 weeks might be the minimum time to give a new med. However, I will warn that gabapentin is known to cause suicidal depression in a small percentage of users (I was one) and Horizant is gabapentin encarbil, a prodrug of ...

Re: Drugs worse than condition- feeling hopeless
Hey Ethan, At least it sounds like you have a doctor who is willing to work with you to find a solution, which is already a reason to feel lucky! Here are a few of my thoughts, which are based on what I know about RLS, not PLMS, but I think they should be relevant: 1. Are all of these medications t...

Drugs worse than condition- feeling hopeless
All, One month ago I stopped Mirapex (I have another thread on this topic). I suffer from PLMD- not RLS. Mirapex worked for many years and then stopped being effective- unclear as to whether I augmented or not but I think so. Since stopping Mirapex my movements have been bad and I am up for a lot of...

Re: Cold Turkey off Ropinerole... Day5 of no sleep, how do I know if it's still augmentation
I have a somewhat similar thread going. I spent about 5 weeks weaning off of Mirapex. 2 weeks ago I stopped it completely and it has been brutal. I have some of the same fears that you have- specifically I am worried it made my movements permanently worse. Others have said it can take a month to get...

Re: Off Mirapex 2 weeks now...how long will the rebound effects last
Thanks for the replies. I am glad to hear that it can take longer for some people- that gives me some hope. I probably should have mentioned that I have PLMD and not RLS. Prior to starting Mirapex (and while on it) my movements generally occurred without me being awake/aware of them. After I stopped...

Off Mirapex 2 weeks now...how long will the rebound effects last
All, I spent a month tapering down my Mirapex from .325 down to .125 and then 2 weeks ago I stopped it altogether. I continue to have movements that are much worse than I had before I started the medication. They are bad enough that I can't sleep in the same bed as my wife. How long will this last? ...

Re: Thoughts on how long to taper off Mirapex
Beth, Thanks for your thoughts. Frankly I am not sure if I am augmenting or not. I just know that the mirapex just isn't as effective as it was at my dosage of .375mg. I have been doing (somewhat) ok with decreasing the dose- I have some nights of ok sleep and other nights not so much. Yes the dilau...

Re: Thoughts on how long to taper off Mirapex
Steve, Thanks for the info and sharing your experience. My cannabis experience has been similar to yours in that CBD didn't seem to be all that effective (I did chat with an herbalist and she said I should try using it during the day and night- which I haven't). I have experimented with smoking and ...

Re: Another year of relief
Peanut 1. I completely agree with you- I eat a Paleo diet and sometimes certain foods seem to make it worse (spicy foods) other times I eat crappy (for me this means sugar- I never eat gluten) and I still sleep fine. It has been really hard to pinpoint what makes it worse or better from a food intak...

Thoughts on how long to taper off Mirapex
All, I have been taking Mirapex .375 for about 5 years now and it's not working well anymore. I have also been using 2-4mg of dilautid (was really helpful at first and then stopped being as effective). My sleep doc wants me to transition off mirapex and has put my on Horizant. We started with 600mg ...
