Re: PLMD and Nocturia

I have nocturia in addition to PLMD. My urologist has suggested to me to put my feet over my heart (lying in bed and putting feet up again the wall) for 45 minutes in the afternoon. It reduces the water retention in the legs. I have noticed that on days that I do that, muscle inflammation in my qua...

Re: iron infusion

ellenalbert how lucky you are now that your PCP is willing to take a chance on iron infusions for RLS/WED! I did have one infusion, and it took about 4 or 5 weeks if I recall correctly before I started sleeping and feeling better. Ultimately I was able to reduce my medication to 2/3 what it was, for...

Re: 1st post after 24 years of RLS

I never took clonazepam for long, so I don't know what it's like coming off it. I know it's very hard for a lot of people. Clonazepam doesn't prevent my RLS I was finding I'd walk into rooms and forget why I was there . .... with reduced Clonazepam use, this has gone away. Awesome! I had the same ef...

Re: levothyroxine and RLS

I would like to take Cytomel and lower my levothyroxine dose in preparation for decreasing my Requip. Kudos for wanting to avoid augmentation. Do you have any signs that you might be augmented already? What dose of Requip are you on and how long have you been on it? Why do you want to lower the lev...

Re: How does community feel about Horizant?

You might respond better than you did on gabapentin, because g. encarbil is absorbed better. But perhaps no better than the Lyrica you're on. The answer as to why you've never tried it, besides the cost, is the pretty high chance that it won't do you any better than gabapentin or Lyrica. (d-uh). Sou...

Re: Horrible side effects on pregabalin

Charles - me too. I augmented on DAs in days, & I got suicidal on gabapentin which didn't even solve the symptoms anyway even at 1800-2400 mg /day. When I was finally given hydromorph contin, I began to get my life back.

Re: Horrible side effects on pregabalin

Paul/Dr.P, I got suicically depressed on gabapentin, but not pregabalin. I don't think mine was rebound depression; it built up gradually over months. I got rid of the Suicide Drug but later added pregabalin 75 mg. I was so scared of getting that kind of depressed again that I only took it 5 days a ...

Re: Methodone

When I took info regarding the iron issues he had blood work done and the saturation and ferritin were both at the very bottom of "normal" range (saturation was 16 and ferritin was 19). His nurse who receives lab results called to tell me all was "normal". I explained about the iron levels and RLS ...

Re: Surgery and Covid

Re your meds, the buproprion is fine, polar bear just forgot that it's the same things as Wellbutrin, the one AD that should never cause worsened WED/RLS. Do you mean triazolam and alprazolam? Those are both triazolobenzodiazepines, you don't take them at the same time, do you? Do you take zolpidem ...

Re: Is augmentation permanent??

Beth, that is "interesting" that you augmented in just 4 months because so did I, and not at a very high dose. Anybody else out there who augmented quickly and didn't revert to their pre-DA condition? Maybe it's a thing. I augmented in 3 or 4 DAYS, actually. I stayed on DAs for 4 months because it ...

Re: Fast Augmentation or Rebound

Hi Bannia - -what a terrible time you're having! I hope it all resolves quickly! There are two withdrawals here to consider - your withdrawal off methadone, which could last up to six months, and your withdrawal off Sinemet, wihch I am not sure how long it could last. Both withdrawals can also be ov...

Re: new member - almost off of Pramipexole

Hi Conger just reading your post now. Congratulations on reducing as far as you have done! I agree with Steve. I suppose you could try going down to 0.125 but no lower, and just go back to 0.25 if it's too dreadful. Vanderbilt is an RLS Quality Care Center, so you should get knowledgeable care there...
