Re: Head roll
I have had to self diagnose my last two medical conditions and then go to the doctor to request the appropriate treatment. In both cases, I was like you and had been complaining about symptoms that the doctor blew off. I have since come to realize that medical specialists are incapable of thinking o...

Re: Where do I go from here?
There are two issues. First is that the FDA's telemedicine rules require that you must already be a patient of the doctor. That means that you must have an in person appointment before you can use telemedicine. The FDA recently tried to do away their pandemic rule that allowed telemedicine and they ...

Re: How does community feel about Horizant?
I had a consult with Dr. Aggarwal in Pittsburgh and she recommends I go on methadone but I have not been able to find a doctor to prescribe. Any help with that would be appreciated. Finding a doctor that is willing to prescribe opioids for chronic non-pain conditions is difficult. It will require l...

Weclome to Bweymouth
Sunday, March 3 Welcome to Bweymouth, who has terrible RLS and has finally found something that works but still wants to see what others are saying. Please understand that many of us found RLS treatments that then stopped working, so you need to continue to educate yourself (and maybe your doctor) a...

Re: Methadone causing Sleep Apnea?
When I had my first sleep study, I was able to get the detailed results of the study. One of the parameters that they reported was the percentage of time on my back, sides and stomach as well as my AHI number for each position. I was surprised to see how much time that I spent on my back because I h...

Re: REQUIP DOSING GUIDELINES
The maximum dose for Requip is 4mg/day, but the experts prefer it to be limited to no more than 2mg/day. You can find this in Table 2 of the document that the link in my signature points to. That document has loads of additional information about the proper treatment of RLS and is something that you...

Re: Methadone causing Sleep Apnea?
My suggestion is that you need to speak with your prescribing doctor ASAP. To me, your description of waking with your throat sealed up sounds more like an allergic reaction than apnea. With normal apnea and UARS, you essentially swallow your tongue. With normal sleep apnea, the nerves in your throa...

Re: Methadone causing Sleep Apnea?
All opioids are Central Nervous System depressants that can cause mild sleep apnea to become a problem. Gabapentin and Lyrica are also CNS depressants, so they can cause issues too. Every time that I have an appointment with my neurologist, she asks "Are you still using your CPAP machine?". I tell h...

Re: Buprenorphine, the good, bad and ugly
I have not been able to convince my neurologist to let me try buprenorphine. I was interested because it is also been shown to be effective in treating Treatment Resistant Depression, which I have. However, read what you can about the dental problems that some burprenorphine users are having. It isn...

Re: STUDY: Vitamin D Lessens the Severity of Restless Legs
Vitamin D deficiency can cause a wide range of neurological problems. My neurologist regularly checks my Vitamin D and B12 levels even though she knows that I take them daily.

Re: Head roll
Well I just made an extremely long post and for some reason it did not show up. The system has a time limit for creating posts. I am not sure, but I think that it is around 10 minutes. Therefore, when you write an extremely long post, you can sometimes exceed the time limit. The work around is to e...

Re: New-Asked to post about treatments
I have never had pain with my RLS, but I did have issues with methadone when I first started taking it. It would keep me awake for 6 to 8 hrs. Some of us refer to that side effect as "Alerting" because you feel dead tired by are wide awake. I resolved that problem by shifting the time that I would t...
