Re: Tapering clonazepam before methadone treatment

Your last paragraph QyX has been on my mind for several weeks. I was wondering if, as you suggest, I begin the methadone treatment while still on a small dose of the clonazepam or diazepam if I do try the latter and am permitted to switch, I will no longer need these once the methadone begins to wor...

Re: Tapering clonazepam before methadone treatment

Thank you for the link to The Ashton Manual. After studying the entire manual I began a slow taper given the many years I was taking 2 mg. clonazepam. I was able to taper to 1.5 mg and a few times to 1 mg. the past six weeks and have not yet considered the switch over to diazepam. Unfortunately, my ...

Re: Tapering clonazepam before methadone treatment

My husband and I were a few minutes ago discussing what you point out about not needing to rush this and yes I will have another conversation with my doctor about the possibility of taking the 5-7.5 mg methadone he proposes while continuing on the clonazepam or gradually switching to Diazepam. I am ...

Re: Tapering clonazepam before methadone treatment

Thanks to all for your comments and suggestions. What I want to do now is read the article recommended by QyX. I'm going downstairs to print it and any related articles. My depression and forgetfulness continued today after three weeks of trying to taper. I am in a quandary about what to do as I am ...

Tapering clonazepam before methadone treatment

I have been taking 2 mg. clonazepam for 25+ years and am having difficulty tapering so that I may start taking methadone. This is per my long awaited consultation with doctor at Yale Sleep Medicine Center. He will also be tapering ropinirole from 2 mg. to 0 mg. once clonazepam taper completed. I wil...

Re: NeuPro: keeping track of patch locations

Ann and Steve, Thank you both for encouraging me to contact a QCC nearest me. I chose Dr. Koo at Yale and spoke with his office who had a record of my call to them last fall but I did not follow through. I may be able to see Dr. Koo in July or August and am on a waiting list for October. I immediate...

Re: NeuPro: keeping track of patch locations

You were right! In two nights I augmented on the "small" doses of Sinemet and returned to the 2 mg. Neupro patch which after a day or two transition period is working fine. Unfortunately, as I live in New Jersey, Hydrocodone or tramadol cannot be prescribed for RLS symptoms but I do know how effecti...

Re: NeuPro: keeping track of patch locations

I am thinking that Sinemet goes directly to dopamine receptors in the brain but that the Neupro patch does not as it is a DA and this class is chemically different and has different side effects. Having taken the patch since September I know that is has the advantage of delivering the medication ste...

Re: NeuPro: keeping track of patch locations

I have very sensitive skin and now, after a three month extended vacation in south Florida this past winter, have red patches of skin wherever I applied the Neupro 2 mg. patch as well as intense itching. I also have a script for the 1 mg. patch which is less irritating and tried adding a 50/100 mg. ...

Re: Neupro patch map

I too find the Neupro patch works best above the chest including upper arms, shoulders and upper back. Unfortunately I needed to apply them to my thighs and waist areas both sides because I am spending the winter in southwest Florida and while playing golf and engaged in other outdoor activities the...

Re: NeuPro: keeping track of patch locations

Yes, once you place tape or a clean shield on the patch it must remain there until the patch is changed. I tried it and the patch did come off.

Re: NeuPro: keeping track of patch locations

After using the 1 mg. patch for two weeks I have augmented and will require the 2 mg. script my physician sent to the pharmacy. I thought I would be able to remain at 1 mg. but not the case. As discussed here I will have to find other sites for the larger patch which will not cause allergic reaction...

Re: refractory rls and psoriasis relationship

I agree more research must be done. For now I am doing my own as I have a few issues. Saw a dermatologist last week and tomorrow an allergist/immunologist. Thanks all for input.

Re: NeuPro: keeping track of patch locations

Thank you for your input and it has been 11 days now on 1 mg. patch. Early evening is best for me and I have steadily increased time I remove and apply the new patch. What a break this has been for me from 24/7 to zero leg jerks. I knew the time would come when I had to eliminate the carbidopa/levod...

Re: NeuPro: keeping track of patch locations

I have been on the NeuPro patch 1 mg. for one week and have not once experienced those jerky leg movements I had 24/7. It has been a challenge finding those areas on my body on which to apply the patch. One fell off while showering two hours before I was to put on a new patch so I waited another two...
