Re: Kratom and insomnia
Thank you all for your responses. He's had a terrible week - an hour of sleep here and there, no more than 3 hours/night. Mostly due to RLS symptoms, but several nights due to insomnia. I will try the Methadone earlier in the day, and perhaps increase the dose. He's been taking 20 mg, but his dr has...

Kratom and insomnia
My husband is on methadone, which has helped the severity of his symptoms, but the RLS still causes a fair amount of sleeplessness, and on nights when he doesn't have the restlessness, he has insomnia from the Methadone. Would kratom help him to sleep on those nights? Where do you get it?

Re: methadone not working
QyX, My husband has had RLS for 40 years. He is 70 in a few weeks. We have tried sinemet, clonazepam, pergolide, requip, pramipexole, Horizant, gabapentin, Lyrica, tramadol, oxycodone. Additionally we have tried vitamins, magnesium, calcium, gluten free diets, dry needling by physical therapy, refle...

Re: methadone not working
This sounds like a plan. Let me see if I understand you correctly. You cut your Methadone dose down by half, and then take the pramipexole with it, for about 5 days (which can vary, depending on the person), then stop the pramipexole and go back to Methadone alone again for a time. When you go back t...

methadone not working
My husband has severe refractory RLS, like many of you. We've been thru everything. In June we started methadone - he initially needed 10 mg tid, but was able to cut down to 10 mg twice a day within a month. However, now the RLS is back. The pattern at night is 1-2 hours of sleep, awake for 1/2 - 2 ...

IV iron infusion
My husband is starting iron infusions. His ferriton was 93, we are trying to raise it to 125. A literature search by the doctor revealed that low molecular weight iron (iron gluconate) gets into the CNS system best, so he is having 8 infusions (1/day) 125 mg each. I have been told that Medicare will...

Refractory RLS
We have been weaning my husbands pramipexole - starting at 3 mg, now at 0.75. He is taking 600 mg Horizant before dinner, with 0.5 mg of pramipexole, and then the last 0.25 mg before bed. We got a script for oxycodone to help with the withdrawal as we wean. The first few times he used it, it helped,...

stjohnh Thanks for your reply. I am interested in kratom. My sister-in-law mentioned it to me and I did some reading, but am pretty unfamiliar with it. Is it addictive? Where do you get it - Amazon? How well does it work? Are there side effects or drug interactions with it? What does the medical com...

Re: Just joined
Rustsmith, thank you for the information. I had not heard of DAWS and have been reading about it. Sounds awful. I've spoken with Mayo twice this week, we will hold my husband's dose at 3 mg for 2 weeks, and then attempt a wean again. They do not recommend an abrupt withdrawal. I let them know that I...

Hello, my husband has had RLS for 40 years. Symptoms have gotten so severe we went to Mayo in early January to seek help. He is on 3 mg Mirapex, and was taking 900 mg Gabapentin with no relief. Options from Mayo included Neupro, Horizant, Lyrica ( at 150 mg bid- we previously had tried 75 mg bid wit...
