Hello Kevin and welcome Yes, lots of us feel that the term Restless Legs trivialises this condition and recently I would refer to it as a neurological movement disorder, which of course it is. A great source of information is the Mayo Algorithm and I have given this to my doc and we use this as a gu...

I take ropinerole 24/7, need 50mg tramadol in the afternoon to 'help', but it takes 100mg tramadol in the evening around 6pm in order to get through the evening (esp if sedentary), with 50mg tramadol at bedtime. You can really tell the difference in relief with the 100mg dose. I suppose the 50mg dos...

Thanks for this information Zach. It clarifies things for me as I am not familiar with the stronger opiates. I was surprised to see that Tramadol equates to Codeine.

Beth: I have been taking zopiclone every night for about a year, Dr B says OK, and my GP has never queried the script. This replaced zolpidem which was a little shorter acting. Both of these are the sleeping meds recommended by Dr. B. Scarlett: This occasional 'swallow not working' or something simi...

Your first appointment sounds hopeful. Especially as neurologist gave you due credit for your background work.

Are your meds now 4.5 rop daily and 150 ultram daily.
(Is ultram very much weaker than hydrocodone)

I also do not sleep even tho my rls at present is somewhat controlled. I take zopiclone and sleep for an hour, am up and awake for a couple of hours, then back to bed. Sometimes I also take a zolpidem around 4am but don't have many of them left. I reckon it is insomnia built up following a long long...

Ann, what a horrible experience. Are you feeling better now. I read your post with interest cos I am also taking tramadol. Taking it for about a year, Was taking it at around 200mg per day, never more and occasionally only at 150mg, but since commencing Citalopram a week ago, have tried ensuring (wi...

Betty - my friend takes amnitryptiline (sp?) which is an old AD, for her fibromyalgia. Of course, she does not have rls to contend with.

I know exactly what you mean.

Now and again when I wake up and don't have to get up for a particular reason, and when also my morning rls is at peace...... what bliss. Like a gift. To lie and read my book for a half hour. :)

The one good thing about our National Health Service here in UK is that I get free meds as I am now 60.

I don't know much about ADs and we don't have Wellbrutin here in the UK.

If it takes an AD a couple of weeks to take effect, could it give you bad feelings in only 2 days. ? I don't know. Guess these are powerful chemicals that we are putting into our bodies.

Hope it gets better.

Thanks Corrie, I reckon we could follow Dr Bs advice ok. Now had my 4th day of citalopram and nothing really bad has happened so far with regard to rls symptoms. The very slight increase during the day could very well be that I am only taking ropinerole and have dropped the tramadol until the evenin...

Corrie - I hope you start to feel less depressed. Do you regularly take a break from your Requip. Feeling low is horrendous. Have you heard good things about desipramine. Susan - do you find the sertraline SSRI ok with your rls symptoms. Ann - 'tired of being tired' ... says it all. I'm now on my th...

Yes, I get fed up taking meds all the time, and I've just started another one....... However..... the thought of what I'd be like without them does not bear thinking about. And I really mean that. The alternative of being without meds, in particular my rls meds, is not even a consideration.
