We're recommended to cease giving up our blood. It is also fairly well established - but only among people experienced in treating RLS - that a ferritin level of 50 is the dire minimum for anyone with RLS. You should be taking supplements to raise it, and getting it re-checked every 3 months. Mine i...

Have you noticed that just about all RLS studies are done on patients who don't have really severe RLS? ie patients who can go off meds for longer than a few days without going stark raving mad and throwing themselves in front of a train. I have to wonder how meaningful the results are for the other...

The other night I woke up hearing a pounding on my door or maybe boots stomping in my hall, but it stopped as soon as I woke up, and the dogs were lying quietly unconcerned. oh no. I've had phones ringing and my name being called, now this. Exploding head syndrome. Just as I was lying down to sleep ...

It's confusing, isn't it? The problem is, there are no for-sure answers to most of your questions. You'll know the iron is working if you can lower your dose of the medication, ultimately, but maybe don't try lowering unless you get a high enough ferritin score after 3 months of iron supplements. Yo...

Hi Mel. Your experience with ropinirole (whose brand name is Requip or Repreve, and perhaps others) sounds very similar to mine, except I progressed to horrible augmentation more rapidly. But same deal: it started earlier every day, and I needed more and more to make it work. I also had the effect o...

oh scarlett that's horrible. I take it the machine is a pain to get in and out of? When will your quads start working again? I'm glad to know someone else tenses up to deal with the RLS. I find if it's not too strong, tensing is as good as moving, pretty much; as long as the muscles are working it d...

thanks everyone! still waiting to hear from my GP for the actual prescriptions but I'm sure they'll come. Zach, yes, post-traumatic stress. You know more about it than I do. Maybe he was right, and I tense up because of something similar to PTS. But I tend to think it's for practical reasons, becaus...

I finally got to have my sleep study and MSLT last week. The sleep specialist is the guy I saw last August after waiting over two years. He kindly tacked on an immediate follow-up after I faxed him a plea to please help me with the worsening RLS, so I saw him the morning after the MSLT. He had them ...

I had -30 C (-22F) the day before I left for my sleep study, with a wind chill comparable to -40, but it warmed up and is now a balmy -21 C (-6F). Every winter we have at least one stretch of temperature below -40 (that's the same in C and F), and a few stints of below -35C (-31F). For me, -35C is ...
