ViewsAskew- I tried Mirapex but augmented after 1 month. I tried Requip and my symptoms worsened. The neurologist said Klonopin was the next thing to try. I probably should have looked at the algorithm first... I'll look at that now. I took 1/4 of a pill last night, so my total dose was 1/8 of a mg ...

Starting Klonopin

I had put this off as long as I could, and I've been off all meds for a couple months. But my RLS is back with a vengeance, in my legs, arms, and sometimes even my torso. I want to jump out of my skin all the time. I'm going to take a really small dose to start, and see how it affects me. I worry ab...

My chiro was not aware of my RLS, because I hadn't seen her in a while. She said that she treats a lot of people who also have RLS, and that no one has ever complained of increased symptoms. But she also thinks it is possible. I'm going to go to one more appointment with her and see if I get worse o...

Weird flare-up...due to chiropractic?

I have been doing semi-OK lately with my RLS, despite being off the Mirapex after I augmented on it. I've been religious about my iron supplementation and acupuncture treatments, and it seems to be helping now. If I miss a few doses though, I get RLS symptoms for a week or so. Then I hurt my back at...

Zach, I'm so sorry you're going through this. Hopefully you can find a way to get her to see sense, rather than having to change docs. If you were new to the medications I might understand it. But not for an established regimen. Why on earth wouldn't she read through your previous charts and figure ...

People have different reactions to the different benzodiazepines. It could be that your taking the Xanax previously could have raised your tolerance to that drug class, resulting in less daytime grogginess.

I've heard that forms other than ferrous sulfate are less constipating. I'm taking ferrous gluconate I think...don't have the bottle handy.

I tend to avoid Chinese herbal medicine. It is generally blends of herbs, and usually there is at least one herb in the mix that I don't work well with, or is contraindicated with my medications. My acupuncturist has accepted (finally) that I won't take the herbs, although I do take herbs on occasio...

No snow here in San Francisco. It is extremely rare to get snow here. It is cold here though, in the 30s and 40s.

When I was on Mirapex (not ER) I had muscle pain when I started augmenting on it. Mostly in my arms and legs. Acupuncture helps my RLS. My acupuncturist puts what she calls "ear seeds" on when I leave, they are tiny metal balls that stimulate the points (held on by mini bandaids). They sta...

Adding my 2 cents, I have to say ditto to what Zach said. The hospital I work at does not want our doctors prescribing it, EVER. Also it is a drug that you never should take an extra dose. I've had a few patients accidentally OD on it at home, by simply doubling their dose. The apparent weakness is ...

Yeah, the drugs are kinda freaky. I'm actually having daytime symptoms today, for the first time in 3 days. I suspect it is from the Requip. This kind of feels like the augmentation from Mirapex. So I take a new med ONCE, and get involuntary twitches, plus a worsening in my condition and what feels ...

I tried the Requip last night. Within 45 minutes I was having involuntary muscle movements in my arms and legs. While this is not the same as my RLS, which is the URGE to move, it still isn't cool. On the happier side of things, my RLS seems to be improving while I've been on my "med vacation&q...

The one thing I learned is that my ferritin is low, 19, despite taking twice daily iron supplements. So my NP is raising the dose to three daily. I will insist on a repeat test in a month or so. Maybe if I can get my ferritin higher I'll feel better. I'm also looking into other doctors. Heck, I work...
