Re: Surgery Needed....Now what??

Just as Polar Bear said, you'll need to talk to your doc about this for sure. When I had breast cancer surgery, I was told I could take my RLS & other meds with a little water in the morning. Also, hospital had a list of drugs I normally take, and I was given those at the right time after I got ...

Re: Is this pain WED related?

MAMA LIZ, I have the severe painful kind of RLS, and when untreated it went on day and night. The little bit of codeine 30mg 4x that I take keeps the whole thing at bay, I rarely experience any part of RLS anymore. But before I was treated and nowadays when my meds run low or something, RLS is such ...

Re: Right arm or leg dominant

I can tell you this, RTHOM, there's a National Institutes of Health NIH government website that has a nice succinct page on RLS (sorry do'nt have link right now), a page not unlike the one they have at this website, that summarizes what RLS is. And in the gov site I'm referring to, they talk about h...

Re: Special WED/RLS diary

You know, this reminds me a little of the website that people report what they think of medicines they take, seems like it's called something like, "Ask a Patient," or whatever, and at that website, which is for every drug in the universe, people go in and say what they think about the dru...

Re: My battle with RLS.. starting to lose faith for relief

We're both online at the same time, WASSY. Wow, I know exactly what you mean, whattsup with that neuro saying the Cleveland Clinic doesn't treat insomnia!!?! Good grief. If they cannot do it, who can? I suppose your primary would give sleeping pills, but heck, that's not the point, is it! Ye gads. B...

Re: My battle with RLS.. starting to lose faith for relief

WASSY, All I know is, one night my RLS was bothering me right before I went to bed, so I was pulling on these support socks/hose type things, it will stop the RLS sensations long enough for me to fall asleep when it flares up, and I had my calf and foot up on the side of the bed to pull the sock on....

Re: Disability Claim

I think anything that would lead to your death qualifies as a disability. And you have explained quite well that the primary condition causing you loss of sleep has NOT been treatable, you have not responded to treatment, try as you might. And the psych docs are already on board with your mental iss...

Re: Disability Claim

I applied and received Social Security Disability a number of years ago, which I had RLS, but it was for severe chronic depression and panic disorder, plus my tore-up back from a car wreck, with RLS on the end of the list, as to how come I got disability. At the Social Security Disability dot gov we...

Re: My battle with RLS.. starting to lose faith for relief

WASSY, I'm sure this one more post is the last thing you need to hear, but I have more "too much information" to pass along to you. Then I PROMISE I will not advise you any further. Reader's Digest had an article about non-statin cholesterol-lowering drugs, and one they mentioned is Zetia,...

Re: My battle with RLS.. starting to lose faith for relief

WASSY, a couple times you mentioned you took some opiates, like hydrocodone, and restoril, flexeril, ambien, valium, and klonopin. The Restoril and flexeril are mild muscle relaxers, ambien is a sedative for insomnia, and valium and klonopin are tranquilizers from the benzodiazepine category of drug...

Re: My battle with RLS.. starting to lose faith for relief

Codeine and Hydrocodone are similar in their effect on pain, but they are different drugs. Codeine is "natural," and hydrocodone is synthetic. Codeine is not as strong as hydrocodone, i.e. 30 mg codeine is same as about 5mg of hydro (takes more codeine to do the same job). I would like to ...

Re: My battle with RLS.. starting to lose faith for relief

My Dear WASSY, I've had RLS for almost ten years now, and I was very fortunate in the beginning. My regular doctor pegged it right away, I have the severe kind 24/7, and she gave me Tylenol Codeine #3 for it, and I took it that night, and for the first time in a year, I fell asleep right where I was...

Re: Pain associated with RLS/WED

Hey RTHOM, that standing in cotton thing sounds to me like peripheral neuropathy, which usually comes from back issues, which I hear you say you got back and WED problems, like me. Those muscles twitching in your leg suggest you may need better medicines, I forget what you take. The charly-horse thi...

Re: "Treatable???"

In the beginning, some people didn't know what I meant when I said Restless Legs, so pretty soon I just told people I had "bad legs." They seemed to understand that fine. Of course, now I have so many things wrong with me, I just tell folks, "I'm all wrecked up." I mean, people w...
