Re: Medication causing Apathy?

So, my question to others is - have you experienced anything like this with long term treatment with an opioid? If so, what did you do? I experienced clinical depression that lasted 3 months many years ago and unrelated to drug use. What you've described here sounds to me a lot like a version of cl...

Re: Gabapentin Side Effect

No problems with my throat. I take 900 to 1200 mg Gabapentin a day (RLS) with no unpleasant side effects but I've only been on this drug for 3.5 months. The morning after side effect that many mention is actually rather nice. However I'm retired so I don't have to be 100% at some job. I seriously do...

Re: Increasing Gabapentin dosage

Peanut1: I'll try adding more iron to my diet. I've read about that. Might help. Also, I should really exercise more. I'm learning Tai Chi at the moment. Good for these old bones.

Re: Increasing Gabapentin dosage

There are two more things about gabapentin that you need to be aware of. The first is that the half life for many is about 4-6 hrs, so it could be that it is simply being eliminated from the blood stream and you are having to take a dose during the night just to have enough to treat your RLS. The s...

Re: Increasing Gabapentin dosage

Thanks for the information. I think that's encouraging. Last night I was up again at 3 in the morning so I guess I'm into the 900 mg a day dosage. Considering the max dosage, I have a ways to go.

Increasing Gabapentin dosage

Hey all. I started out on 300 mg of Gabapentin 3 months ago (June 1 after being diagnosed with RLS). Then after a few weeks the dose jumped to 600mg. I take my 1st capsule at dinner then my 2nd around 9. I was supposed to take this drug before bed but found I was getting uncomfortable sensations ear...

Re: Recently Diagnosed

Thanks for that, Betty. I'm fine today. I feel bad for your situation. All the best for future success. I know attitude is important and 90% of the time I'm positive. So far I have little to complain about really. This Gabapentin is working pretty well. Sometimes it doesn't get absorbed into my syst...

Re: Recently Diagnosed

After reading many comments in this forum, it's clear to me that an effective treatment for RLS/WED hasn't been developed. People go from drug to drug, dosage to dosage, combination to combination. It's a little depressing but then challenging I suppose. I'll try to stick with challenging. I guess I...

Re: Recently Diagnosed

Yes, the symptoms were as you described. It was torture to lie still in bed at night which is why I got up and exercised like crazy. Even that often didn't help. After a couple weeks of awful nights, I went to the doctor. Lately I've been upping the gabapentin dosage from 300mg to 600 - 900mg at nig...

Re: World War III - I pushed the button

I pushed the button on my brother in 2009. In 2015 he showed up at my door and apologized. I didn't apologize but gratefully accepted his apology. We've been close ever since. A few weeks ago I pushed the button on my 13 year old granddaughter. Maybe when she's older she'll drop by without her smart...

Re: Recently Diagnosed

So Refractory RLS is RLS that's not controlled by the DA class of drugs? If so, that's what I have.

Re: Recently Diagnosed

Thanks for that. Yeah my doctor said to try one or 2 (300mg) capsules at bedtime and I've read that patients need to adjust the dosage as needed. I guess like most of us, we'd like to keep the dosage as low as we can. I won't be using gabapentin enacarbil. Way too expensive for me. Gabapentin is che...

Recently Diagnosed

Hey everyone! I'm a retired commercial illustrator, though I occasionally take the odd assignment. 2 months ago I was diagnosed with RLS after I explained to my GP what had been happening to me for the past 6 months or so. Actually, I have no idea when these uncomfortable symptoms started but by the...
