Re: Another year of relief (Low-oxalate diet)

I use Go Healthy Go Garcinia Slim Gold, 12 g and 600mg HCA. I usually take one capsule and 1gm Calcium Citrate first thing in the morning after an oxalate dump, which is around 2 times per week currently. Prevously during heavy constant dumping I took up to 4 per day with potasium bicarbonate, or I ...

Re: Another year of relief (Low-oxalate diet)

At the moment i would say that i have somewhat cloudy urine about two times per week. I'm not taking any Garcinia Cambogia. Whats your experience with this? I definitely do not want to loose any weight (BMI of 20). For me, the most interesting thing about the diet change to low oxalates is my incre...

Re: Another year of relief (Low-oxalate diet)

I eliminated high-oxalate foods from my diet a while ago and didn't have any dump effects. But I might check what medium-oxalate foods I can remove too, to go truly low oxalate for a few weeks. There seems to be weak evidence https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/garcinia-cambogia-weight-loss . I co...

Re: Another year of relief (Low-oxalate diet)

I wonder if you have recommendations for oxalate content lists. This is a bit of a nightmare. There are lots of different resources, that are of varying ages and different values for oxalates. They contradict because, just to add more confusion, plants have different oxalate levels based on growing...

Re: Another year of relief (Low-oxalate diet)

Oxalates bind to magnesium, potassium and iron; which are important for RLS. Low brain iron (BID) has been found in people with autism; who have high body produced oxalates. It looks on paper that a good percentage of people with RLS have oxalates as the cause, but I have no thoughts on why a small ...

Holy Crap! The celery juice has actually been working. Who would have believed it?
Not really a surprise. Magnesium and potassium are well known to help some people. Calcium could also help those with oxalate issues.

Re: Another year of relief

Thanks for the suggestions. For the last weeks i have been taking calcium citrate with every meal (120mg Ca per meal) as well as potassium and Magnesium citrate once per day. So far the symptoms have decreased, only some tingling remains after i eat some food with too much oxalate (atleast that's m...

Re: Location of RLS Symptoms Changing

Moderate volume and consumption of individual foods, combined with intermittent fasting is probably as good as a diet is going to get. The rest is personal preference and how the body reacts. I'm personally for high a fat diet, with certain vegetable oils high in omega 6 avoided, which is contrary t...

Re: Location of RLS Symptoms Changing

Of course, this all hinges on the assumptions that a "paleo" diet is healthy. You may find microbiome changes from high meat consumption worth researching, as well as chances of diabetes type 2; which is still not well understood. Carnitine is a concern, this was just the top of a quick search: "Di...

Re: Treating Central Nervous System Inflammation

I fully agree that we should never look at a symptom in isolation, and assume that a single one thing caused it. I’m conflicted on single causes for RLS, or should I say in pursuing them. On one hand, my experiences show that it is a series of bad luck events that created my RLS and missing just on...

Re: Melatonin (2nd attempt)

In any case, if you simply have "just" RLS, Melatonin is unlikely to work for you and will just trigger RLS symptoms. Endless debates on this in all the RLS forums and the consensus is that it helps some and hinders others. Your summary is wrong. Me and many other people have no problems and get be...

Re: Treating Central Nervous System Inflammation

Well done on your success and I hope it continues. Although I don’t agree with your principles, I would still encourage you to keep trying and especially pursuing any ideas you have. Just because you don’t get a response or even agreement, it doesn’t mean that your ideas aren’t read and considered. ...

Re: Another year of relief (Low-oxalate diet)

There is an interesting overlap with gout, uric acid and oxalates. Anecdotal evidence that low oxates help gout, without a mechanism identified.

Could be similar to RLS, in that you may need a combination of factors for a 'critical mass' for symptoms.

Has anyone of you observed a connection between uric acid and (suspected) oxalate load?
No scientific papers or even speculation anywhere, no practical mechanism to link uric acid and oxalates.

Oxalates are very well studied in the area of kidney stones, and less so in autism.

Re: Another year of relief

I am on a low oxalate diet for 8 days now and I am optimistic that things are going in the right direction. The first 2 days after starting the low oxalate diet i had absolutely no symptoms whatsoever and i was feeling great. Then the "oxalate dumping phase" started and i have minor symptoms at nig...
