Re: How much Vicodin?
Oh well, at least we don't have ALS. the way you put it was so funny I laughed.. dunno why it caught my funny bone. I can understand not wanting to be in a fog. I am lucky in that I don't think I have medication fog - my fogs are all from lack of sleep. Not that that's any better.. but I can't blam...

Re: Beagle's Story and Questions
Ah, good news
you probably won't need tramadol for the change-over from one DA to another? I don't think so.. anyone else know?
but at least you have it, that's good. Take it with you if you ever have a long plane flight.

Re: Pramipexole and serious side effects
An additional problem with jakesmom augmenting on such a high dose of pramipexole, is she will most likely experience severe withdrawal in the form of incessant and severe symptoms for days to weeks - so no sleep and 24-hr torture for days to weeks. I think she might need a doctor to prescribe somet...

pamdorr Nothing is ever simple, is it? You're bringing tears to my eyes, maybe I'm in a susceptible mood tonight (feeling sorry for myself too, no doubt). In the earlier part of your post, I reacted to your comment that your husband had, more than once, been unable to wake you up during the 3 hours ...

so glad you got checked out and they found a clear problem and are working to resolve it. Lots of cases of secondary WED/RLS clear up once the primary problem (iron deficiency, mainly) is cleared up. So you might not be doomed to live with this much longer! let's hope.

With at least 6 different genes involved, and no one of us having all of them, there's going to be a lot of variety out there in the details of the disease, the peculiarities in how it manifests itself. Definitely interesting.

Re: Poppy seed tea - incredibly effective for me
It might be a good option. You will be both doctor and patient. Pay attention to other drugs you're taking, and dosage of the tea. The effective ingredient for RLS/WED is undoubtedly the opioids it's known to contain.

Re: Article on Kratom
I would not use kava kava for WED simply because I do not want anything with sedating properties near me, unless the WED symptoms are being dealt with. Being sedated while having symptoms is a most grievous experience.

And Erika, thank you for the article link. I didn't realize that study had published any results yet The publication referred to reports the results of a pilot study that preceded the current, ongoing study. The pilot-study results formed part of the justification in funding requests for the curren...

Re: Can't take much more of this
I also get worse WED/RLS symptoms for 4-5 days, before and sometimes into the first day or so of my period. It's not every period for me; some are fine. It's not uncommon for women to notice a connection, though perhaps the timing is different for some. The worsening probably has the same cause that...

the only thing that's different in my life is that hockey season is over. I no longer have 1.5 hr every few nights of intense activity. I don't recall having a problem last spring, but I might have. The season tapered down in April and ended for good on Apr 24. The symptoms started getting bad a wee...

They're also saying that the dopamine system is correlated with PLMs, but not sleep arousals (which was known before), and that glutamate+glutamine levels are correlated with sleep arousals, but not PLMs (which is new). They point out that very few researchers have looked at the hyperarousal compone...

Pretty sure cold turkey is the only way, at least if you have opioid assistance. Without it, I don't know; it still might be best - brutal though.

What I plan to do is just discuss the drug with him and my ever increasing dose. Maybe it will save me from having more horribly expensive tests that come back normal. I just want him to understand there is a possible explanation for the problems I have been having. I will get his opinions and take...
