I have read that therapies can wear out after 1 to 2 years. I have read numerous accounts in these forums where that is the case. Personally, I took Sinemet for nearly three years. It worked mostly well for the entire time. Does anyone know of a connection between RLS and Parkinsons risk? I have wo...

I have never suffered RAS. But it is my arms that I'm exercising First of all, what is (pardon my ignorance) RAS? Jan, It was an obtuse tongue-in-cheek thing. RAS=Restless Arm Syndrome. I don't do stretching exercises. I do push-ups. I have done push-ups for many, many years. I do eighty to one-hun...

Becat,

I experienced no withdrawal symptoms. I do believe that I was in the beginning stages of rebound from the prescription, though it's difficult to say. I am not symptom free from RLS. I just have managed a solution to transition my way to sleep. We'll see how long this lasts.

You're among the people who doesn't sleep much (or only with medications) aren't you, Neph? Sara, I quit my meds a few weeks ago. See my recent post in Non-Pharmaceutical Therapies. I generally get adequate sleep at night when working dayshift. When I am on night shift I obtain inadequate rest for ...

Forsaking my prescription

For some thirty months I managed to sleep largely trouble free thanks to my RLS prescribed medication. As I had mentioned in previous posts, on occasions where the medication failed its objective I had been able to compensate by performing very brief but intense exercise which elevated my respiratio...

Anybody have any wisdom or theory about this? No wisdom here, Sara, but I can pass on something to consider. Years ago I read where some scientists severed a connection to a small but vital portion of the brain in a cat. Humans also have at the base of the skull this brain element, the name of whic...

POT-PORREY  (potpourri)

1. Jan, When something p***** me off, I tongue-in-cheek comment that "it irrigates me". Malapropism intended. 2. Heron, I'll never break free of my addiction to chocolate. I have managed to conform the consumption of same to this stupid syndrome. But what aggravates the RLS most for me to date is pa...

RE: Becat's split-pill question

Hi, Becat, I had not read this thread until PeteB posted a reply. I typed "cutting pills in half" in a search engine and found numerous results on the subject. Below is one of the better explanations: From m # Timed-release medicines Timed-release medicines may also be called long-acting, controlled...

Log-in idiosyncracy

sometimes people don't seem to get logged in right If the Discussion Board Menu at the top of the screen doesn't change to "Log out [yourhandle]" after the first log-in, then your posts will indicate 'Guest'. I have resorted to logging in twice in succession every time. I have no idea what that is ...

The most common weather changes that can affect pain control are barometric pressure, humidity and temperature. It would be interesting to learn the results of any studies of fibromyalgia patients based on a geographical placement. That is, does fibromyalgia occur with a higher frequency, pecentage...

Morgoth,

I'm with alecto3. I don't believe you will find relief for your condition in this Forum. I think you should follow alecto3's advice and consult a physician.

One theory that my docs have been tossing around is the fact that I have spondololysthesis at vertebrae junction L5- S1 and that this might be impinging the nerves slightly to cause my symptoms. Kate, I experienced permanent spinal nerve damage in 1977, though I beleive it is at the L4-L5. RLS symp...

While I'm not a doctor, I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Well, whatever your nemesis might be, da, it sure hasn't affected your sense of humor.

Thanks for the laugh.
