Re: Acute Sciatica and RLS
Thanks to all for responding to my post. I do have lumbar spinal stenosis, spondy at L/3/L4, and disc bulging throughout lumbar spine. I had a fusion at L/4L/5 7 yrs. ago. A month ago I underwent an epidural/nerve block etc. and my sciatic pain is considerably less now. I have a follow-up appointmen...

I have lumbar stenosis, had fusion at L/4/L/5 7 yrs. ago and several epidurals, 3 this year, the last 2 wks. ago for severe sc...

Re: Gabapentin for WED and Sciatica
Re my lumbar stenosis I do yoga stretches and certain poses for back and it does help a bit. Re finding another doctor who might prescribe vicodin I don't think I'll have any luck unless someone could recommend a doc in New Jersey and, yes, I think I may make an appointment with doctor Early at John...

Re: Gabapentin for WED and Sciatica
Thanks to all for your input. Regarding the carbidopa/levodopa I have taken this for 20+ years, 50-200 mg CR tab before bedtime, with no augmentation and half the tab on occasion. I had taken Vicodin 5-500 together with the carb/levodopa for several years but doctor determined I should not take a &q...

Gabapentin for WED and Sciatica
I have been taking 1200-1800 for my WED together with Sinimet with complete relief. I recently consulted with a neurologist re my severe sciatica pain. I have had lumbar surgery and epidural injections but the pain continues though I walk 3 miles a day most days and am active. This new doctor sugges...

Re: Gabapentin and Eye Twitching
Thank you, Ann. That was my thought and I'm cutting back this evening on the Gabapentin.

Gabapentin and Eye Twitching
My new (and former) primary physician decided to increase my Gabapentin from 1200 mg to 1800 mg. She thought this dosage would alleviate my sciatica. It did not and I've been taking this dosage for approx. 6 weeks. A few weeks ago I developed eye twitching in my left eye and now my right eye is twit...

Re: Does anyone successfully use ONLY an anti-convulsant?
I have decreased the dosage of levo-carbidopa from the current level but the higher dose works better for me (50-200 mg). I've had no augmentation with this drug after 20 years. It was my (former) physician who sent me to a nurse practitioner to taper the clonazepam. I was indeed disappointed that h...

Re: Does anyone successfully use ONLY an anti-convulsant?
I have been taking 1200 mg Gabapentin, occasionally 1500 mg, for several yrs, together with one carbidopa/levodopa 50/200 CR tab both bedtime and 1 mg clonazepam twice nightly for several years for severe WED. Tried to taper the latter drug without success but my MD is okay with this. The first two ...

The truth is that I am indeed hooked on the clonazepam which is the medication given me many yrs ago for my RLS together with hydrocodone and sinemet. I discontinued the hydrocodone a yr ago because my neurologist prescribed the gabapentin together with the sinemet and these meds work well for my RL...

Ann and Zach, Thanks for your comments. This is first time I have tried reducing my dosage. When I saw my doc 3 mos. ago he suggested that I might be able to get by on 1 mil/day after a few months and when I told him I wasn't yet able to reduce the dosage because of some recent stress, he asked if h...

Clonazepam Withdrawal
Hello, I have been taking 2 mil./day of clonazepam for several, maybe 20 years and my doc recently reduced my daily dosage to 1.5 mil. I have been under stress lately and require 2 mil. on those days. When I saw my doc yesterday he told me he didn't treat stress disorders and told me he would not pr...

gabapentin and cholesterol levels
Thanks, Ann. I'll research this for any correlation, probably none though. Re gabapentin, I have in the past few days reduced my dosage to 600 mil/day, continue to take Sinemet (50/200) at night and clonazepam 1 mil. twice daily. I retain fluids with gabapentin (have gained 5 pounds since taking it)...

Gabapentin and higher cholesterol level
Just received my cholesterol results and, again, the total continues to rise, this time 260. Though my HDL continues to be over 100, I need to lower the LDL and thus the total. I watch my diet carefully so I wonder if the gabapentin I've been taking for the past 3 yrs could possibly be causing a ris...
