Re: How long does augmentation last?

I am wondering if anyone else had augmentation that lasted this long? When I started this process, my doctor said give it 7 to 10 days and I should be back to my baseline RLS but 10 days have come and gone and I'm starting to think this is never going to end. I'll also add that my iron is currently...

Re: Is augmentation permanent??

I have never been able to see an RLS specialist and so have been trying to understand and manage my disease be myself by reading and experimenting. With all my reading I have not found any definitive statement as to whether the altered symptoms due to augmentation completely go away with discontinu...

Re: For Anyone Who Thinks RLS is a Joke

I hesitate to mention this - - I was not a heavy meditator before WED/RLS. Meditation was suggested to me a number of times since WED/RLS, but I always gave up on it because of the symptoms. But last Dec I started the Gupta Program for CFS/ME, firbomyaliga, electrical/mold/food/chemical sensitivitie...

Re: Ferritin testing

Sorry this is late, but in case it comes up in future searches, You want a complete Iron Panel (IRON, TRANSFERRIN, TIBC and % SATURATION) plus a 12-hour fasting Ferritin. And don't take iron pills the night before the test! I've also heard it said not to take iron pills for the 3 days before the test.

This is good to hear from Sunflower and Susan that iron sucrose actually does work too - at least for some of us.

Re: Do I even have RLS?

Hmmm it really doesn't sound like WED/RLS. Your symptoms are daytime, whereas WED/RLS is by definition a nightime disease. Do the symptoms they prevent you from falling asleep? If not, it's probably not WED/RLS. Does walking or using your muscles alleviate the urge to move? If yes, that is support f...

Re: Article on Medical Gaslighting in the NYTimes

I read that article when it came out. I had to look up what gaslighting was! Here it is for anyone else who wasn't sure: "Gaslighting is a form of psychological abuse in which a person or group causes someone to question their own sanity, memories, or perception of reality. People who experience gas...

Re: certainly someone must have seen a neurologist

When I tried to set up the appointment with the movement specialist the receptionist told me the doctor wants me there a half-hour before my 8:15am appointment. Paperwork? No. Tests? Didn't say. The doctor wants all his patients there a half hour before. This did not sit well with me. I am going to...

Re: Frustrated with it all!

Hey Susan If you can get to see Dr B, he might be able to get you your iron infusion. Either he will prescribe it directly and you will have to pay out of pocket to an infusion pharmacy (which is what I did) or he will refer you to a hematology center and you take your luck with whoever you get (hav...

Re: Bright Light Therapy and Delayed Phase Sleep Disorder

I haven't taken a DA for many years. My RLS never returned to its baseline after taking those drugs. Yes, my RLS is the same. DA’s made it worse and it never returned back to baseline. Off topic, but I too never reverted to previous condition after augmenting even though have not taken DAs for 4 mo...

Re: certainly someone must have seen a neurologist

Hey Ken, If I was in your situation, I would not decrease my kratom (unless I coincidentally felt that I was taking more than I needed) until/unless something else was provided to manage the symptoms. You are right, he was wrong (in my opinion). Your symptoms are being treated by the kratom, and the...

Why We Shouldn't Mess With Dopamine

Not research but a bit of history & commentary. Re: Device for tracking PLMs??

For the heck of it I googled actigraph ebay. There were no Actigraph brand devices but there was a Philips one for under $50 (Respironics Actiwatch 2) - but I don't think it records PLMs. I don't think any of the actigraphy devices do.

Re: Tongue numbness

I take 75 mg nightly. Mouth gets drier than a desert when I sleep, in fact I think my tongue adhering painfully to the roof of my mouth wakes me up more than anything else these days. But no numbness such as you describe. Ageusia (loss of the sense of taste) is listed as an uncommon side effect, but...

Re: Augmentation Evaluation

I'm late answering you - - but no. I have not experienced such a thing nor do I recall hearing anyone describe such a thing on the board - - but I haven't been as involved here in the last few years as I used to be, so I may have missed something similar. Did you ever feel WED/RLS in your legs or fe...
