Re: Rant - be forewarned

Hi everyone, and thank you. I now have a printout from this site to take to my next appt (if I decide to keep it). I shoulda thought of that. Not sure why some people go into medicine. It certainly isn't because they want to help people. Must be so that they can put M.D. after their name and have ev...

Rant - be forewarned

I'm changing doctors (I'm sure none of you have experienced this ). I tell him... "I have back pain, sciatica, bunions, arthritis...AND WED that manifests in my left arm and side." "What's that?" "Willis-Ekbom Disease, also known as Restless Legs Syndrome." "In you...

Re: hydrocodone and new prescription laws

And, don't get me started on insurance companies refusing to pay for certain meds! It's maddening. I don't know why I even see my GP, since I appear to have someone in the Blue Shield PPO who is controlling everything I take. That said, I AM hoping the neurontin/morphine is ok. I think at 1200 mg o...

Re: hydrocodone and new prescription laws

I hope the gabapentin works well for you. Research seems to indicate at least 50-70% of people get results from it, so it's a pretty good drug. If it works and you have insurance, you might consider the gabapentin encarbil (brand name Horizant). It works better for some people because of how it's f...

Re: Mirapex to gabapentin

I've now had enough experience with gabapentin to say that's a definite "maybe" lol. For a few weeks, 300 mg helped, and then it didn't, but at 1200 mg, I was so woozy in the morning, I thought I'd fall into the electric third rail (Bay Area Rapid Transit). Ended up having to supplement wi...

Re: hydrocodone and new prescription laws

Dr Buchfuhrer being in southern California doesn't do me much good unfortunately; I'm up in the San Francisco area. However, my GP recommended Neurontin. Now I've heard people say they haven't had very good results with this, and it's only been a few days, but it has helped (YAY!). I'm going to see ...

Re: hydrocodone and new prescription laws

That said, I'll jump through the hoops. I've HAD it with experimental dopaminergic agents, partial dopamine agonists, receptor agonists, anti-convulsants, sedative hypnotics, you can have the whole LOT!! I'm staying on opiates, they work, no side effects except the inconvenience of peeing in a cup o...

Re: Vibrating, electric, buzzing feeling

Hi Haven, welcome to my world. I STILL have trouble convincing people that it's not "imaginary" or "stress" or "anxiety manifesting as violent shocks and tingling sensations." I first had RLS has a child, then it went into remission to occurr periodically. I've heard, a...

Re: TENS stimulation for WED/RLS: Effective parameters

What if you have WED in an arm (which I do). I tried placing the pads around my upper arm, but they seemed to aggravate the symptoms. Maybe it's one of those things where they have to be placed on your back to help your arms? No idea. Anyone tried this?

Re: getting off miraprex

I'm searching through these forums to see if Pregabalin has really helped people. I just went off buprenorphine, violent return of WED symptoms. Filched some Norco from my hubby, which worked, but that's why I was on the buprenorphine. I just got OFF opiates (Morphine, hydromorphone: serious ones). ...

Re: hydrocodone and new prescription laws

In July a law passed in California requiring a doctor to urine/blood test, AND see the patient every month...I wish it were every four months! And also, insurance doesn't cover this. Stuck between a rock and a hard place, since hydrocodone really works for my now raging WED.

Re: Bupropion (Wellbutrin)

I'm slowly becoming reconciled to the fact that I'll always need some meds, OR else have moderate to severe WED symptoms, depression, anxiety, and arthritis pain. Funny thing about this situation is that I'm currently looking for work. Many companies require drug testing as well as a background chec...

Re: Psychiatric effects

Hi momworries- The people on these discussion boards are incredibly knowledgeable. I'm a newcomer here, but I can't express how rewarding it's been...to know that other people have what you have, understand what you're going through, comprehend the severity of which WED can affect your life - physic...

Re: Bupropion (Wellbutrin)

Hi Ann! Well, I've been taking buprenorphine (2-4 MG) and that seems to help. I was trying to get off of opiates entirely, but I'm afraid to try DAs. Not sure why, except my WED went from bad to intolerable when I tried to stop the buprenorphine. :(

Re: Opiods

I've had some amount of luck with buprenorphine, and it's less likely to cause nausea and addition. Methadone didn't much work for me, but this is better than the morphine I was taking previously! Kris
