Welcome, Ceasaree, Glad you found us, and hope that something here will help. All that pain must be really difficult. I haven't heard of Requip causing that, but that doesn't mean it isn't the Requip! Maybe someone else will say, "Yep! Happened to me." These medication do strange things, no question...

The only thing that could be better would be for Carmella on the Sopranos to get RLS!!! That would really be great. I bet a lot of people would know about it then. Go HBO!!!

Hey, Mike! How's things? Hope the RLS is ignoring you lately.

Jeanie, as Hazel said, the nerve conduction is simply to determine if you have neuropathy. Neuropathy is one cause of secondary RLS. Jeanie, this is really important. You CAN have celiac disease and test negative through bloodwork. The bloodwork test is not perfect. First of all, you MUST be eating ...

Jeannie, what a difficult winter it has been for you. I can only imagine how frustrated you are. You are still sick and people aren't communicating well with you. Can anyone go with you to your doctor's appointments? When we are sick and don't feel well, we don't always remember to ask enough questi...

From what I read, adding the emoticons will be lots easier than getting the chat room working. The RLSF knows it's important, and Hazel recently researched some alternative methods, but we haven't heard anything yet from the foundation.

Sleep and sleeping pils

This is an interesting, and provocative, article. It makes some very interesting points. I immediately thought of a discussion we had months ago about how much sleep we need. The doctor interviewed for this article suggests that we don't need as much as some people say; that they reason they say we ...

I am so sorry, Lyn. Wow, your post must have triggered all the sadness I have about how sucky this disease is, as I am now crying for you. While probably true of any chronic illness, it really is hard to make relationships work when you have severe RLS. Maybe it's harder in some ways because people ...

Emoticons and chat

Does anyone else wish that we had some more emoticons? I won't bother asking the Foundation to load some others if no one else cares. I often notice that we don't have anything for hugs or frustration and some other emotions that we often share. There are some good examples here: m Also, are many pe...

I wish I had some words that meant something or could help in some way. Sometimes the best words are no word, though. So, the best I can do it to take these words and pretend they are a long, close hug.

To Susan: Options

Hi Susan, I thought your post was important and didn't want it to get buried in the other post about drug side effects. You originally wrote: "I have been taking Mirapex for over a year now. It seems to be the only drug that calms my legs down and keeps them calm overnight. But, I have been developi...

OK, how thin did he get??? If it's curable by a few days of tablets, maybe we could make millions on this. First, make a pill that infects people with this fungus that makes them hate food. When they get to the weight they want, we give them the cure! I guarantee we'd have lots of brisk business. If...

That's what I do, Hazel! My nieces and nephews LOVE to get their own mail. Each year, I get them a subscription to a magazine that is just for them. Whenever I travel, I send postcards - they each get their own, specifically picked out for them. One year, I sent my youngest niece [edited to add] a p...

I can report my experience with both valerian and melatonin (and that of my DH). Both of us found that these drugs induced extraordinary dreaming. For me, they also kept me awake more of the night than they allowed me to sleep - I think it was related to the dreams, but the end result was that I was...

It's funny, all that is required (often) to get through our RLS is a different mindset. When I read that, I started to think about how true it is for most things in life. It's just so hard to let go of things to allow ourselves to get to that mindset. It seems to me that fear is what it is all about...
