no panacea
I know Methadone isn't the answer to all my problems. Right now, the worst part of it is that it suppresses my appetite into the morning. I'm diabetic and must have a balanced diet, to try to keep my blood sugar at an even rate. Now, I've never hungry until I get crazy. Food seems to taste worse too...

spotless houses
Sometimes it crosses my mind that our home stays really straight and pretty clean, even though we don't clean it much and my husband has ADD and huge piles of things. Then I'll realize the midnight maid has been very busy. It's such a strange thing. When the wave of RLS hits me, of course I get up a...

Talk!
My tip is one I've had such a hard time learning: Talk about it! Educate your friends. Don't be embarassed when you have a spell -- use it as a chance to explain it to people. You probably have to add that taking one of those pills on TV doesn't always "cure" it. And for those close to you: remember...

hang in there
I also pop in and out of this site. But so glad to see you here, and have you share your journey. NOBODY is going to flame you!! Don't worry about that. We've all been to hell and back with this ****. I liked your description of driving. I hate Sinemet so much. A doc that was willing to work with me...

I totally agree that you could experiment with lowering the dosage, as odd as that sounds. It's a tricky business. I can't take it anymore, because after two years it started rebounding during the day, but I remember with much fondness how well it worked at first!! I hope you're able to get some use...

friends of friends
Yeah, I agree about bypassing your sons; that's very awkward. If you're very discreet, you'll start finding out that probably 1/4 of the people you know smoke it. I had three people offer to get it for me within a couple of weeks. A man I know supplements his pension. And on and on. This is one bene...

Fizz?
Hello! A friend (who doesn't have RLS) told me she sleeps so much better when taking magnesium, and that it needed to be powdered. She recommended "Ionic-Fizz." I've tried it for two nights, don't like the taste very much but I could get over that if it helps me sleep. It doesn't. But the lady at Vi...

No MJ for the HJ
Hey: I'm in Denver, too -- perhaps we'll have a late nite chat sometime?? When my HJ's were at their worst, I would put on Cajun music (being from the South) and jiggle all over the house, hopping here and there, all night long. Great way to stay in shape. Physically, not mentally, of course. After ...

Marijuana -- flip flop
A couple of years ago, I discovered that a couple of puffs before bed would give me a night's sleep (along with another rls drug that wasn't working well). I've continued to use it, with mixed results. After three sleepless nights, I didn't use it and I slept all night. Of course, I won't use it for...

another thing
Oh Lynne, I do the same thing. Doctor's appt? Oh, it was last week? Hair appointment? Not until tomorrow? I was driving to the store today and got lost -- it's been three nights since I've have more than 3 hours sleep. Kirk I don't mean to interrupt your thread, but it's still relevent. Even with th...

talking
Welcome Kirk. I had a thought that might apply. Sometimes I wish when I had RLS I would just bleed all over the place -- that way, my dh or anyone could see that obviously something was wrong with me and might cut me some slack. But instead I stand, sit, etc. usually looking perfectly normal while i...

more
I wish doctors would read these posts. When I first started searching for cures, 15 years ago, one doc would say "are you depressed?" He kept asking, and I was afraid to say "well yes, after 2 hours of sleep a night, actually I'm thinking about what ledge I could step off." I knew an honest answer w...

related
Kathy, I think a lot of the pains are related. I have arthritis and I know when that gets bad, so does the RLS. Something else I wonder about is that all this stuff seemed to happen at menopause for me; you're not there yet. But I think I lost some kind of protection against a lot of things. My husb...

found something
Okay...this is for anyone who might have been following this thread. I think I finally found a place that I think is helpful, they have moderators like these boards and there seems to be a sense of community. It's: m One of the first posts I read on there was about a woman with arthritis who was goi...
