Re: Earlier Onset While Driving Requiring Early Oxycodone Dosage

EdSoFlo, I find your post really interesting as I take an OxyContin CR 15mg at bedtime and 1 oxycodone 7.5 at midday. This barely takes care of the rls. I usually take the night time dose around 8pm and wake up twice during the night. 4:30am is when I awaken with severe rls in my legs and hip pain....

Re: Earlier Onset While Driving Requiring Early Oxycodone Dosage

Good luck. And, yes, you are very lucky! Dr Rye has always been one of my favorite RLS docs (of those I have met through the Foundation). As someone who has used methadone for about 12 or 13 years, I have long wished for a combo approach. A small amount of methadone for what it does, and a small am...

Re: Earlier Onset While Driving Requiring Early Oxycodone Dosage

Much thanks to you both. I’m actually (since November last year) in the happy position of being treated by Dr Rye at the Emory Sleep Center and I feel we have a free and open line of communication and he’s fully versed and supportive of opioids usage when indicated. Trust me with my last Dr in Flori...

Earlier Onset While Driving Requiring Early Oxycodone Dosage

Hi all - A few months back I began to experience a mid-afternoon onset of symptoms while driving in traffic, and pretty severe ones at that. As in, literally wanting to get out of the car and start running down the shoulder! I take (and have for going on a decade) 10-20 mg oxycodone IR per night, on...

Re: Next Foundation Webinar - Opioid Advocacy

I wrote and submitted my letter to my Congressman, and in the course of that interacted a bit with Peter Herzog via email and he is a great and very talented man, we’re fortunate to have him and his lobbying firm on our team. I have a couple thoughts, one, I think it’s very important to expand these...

Re: Who is your favorite doctor?

Hi all - I started treatment with Dr David Rye at the Emory Sleep Center upon moving to the Atlanta area (it took quite a bit of time to get in, the man is super busy) and I can honestly say it’s been life changing. I had a good doctor in Los Angeles when originally diagnosed, then two fairly bad on...

Re: Starting At Emory

It's wonderful that your treatment is going so well. I have only heard of Dr Rye but would believe that you will not be disappointed. Isn't it a shame that you went through such a bad time when you first moved to South Florida. Most of us have attended doctors who proclaim to treat RLS only to find...

Re: Starting At Emory

Welcome to the discussion board. I don't have anything to add about Dr Rye other than that I understand that one of the requirements to become a Foundation Quality Care Clinic is that they must be willing to use opioids to treat RLS in those of us who have experienced augmentation. I share your opi...

Re: Starting At Emory

Welcome to the board. And thank you for sharing your story. I hope that Dr Rye doesn't disappoint. He has RLS and I would see him if I lived anywhere close to him. Do you mind sharing the name of the Dr you saw in Santa Monica? I moved to So Cal recently. I see Dr. B now, but he is in his mid-60s a...

Starting At Emory

Hi all - Just a brief background. I've had pretty severe RLS my entire life. As a young kid I remember describing it to a doctor as 'crazy legs'. I was officially diagnosed about 11 years ago at a very good sleep disorder clinic in Santa Monica CA, at age 38. Started with the usual DA's, didn't work...

Re: Pending Opioid Withdrawal?

I massaged my PA that I had so many pills left and that I was ready for my next prescription. This was on Monday. I have one pill to get me through the night and tomorrow until she might electronically send it to my pharmacy. Hopefully she is acting on this. Last refill, I had to re-message and rem...

Re: BELSOMRA

My neuro told me about Belsomra (I'm suffering currently from major augmentation from Sinemet and am having, of course, horrible sleep issues. The 'z' class drugs are no good for me, temazepam is OK but I my tolerance builds very quickly, he said this is new, let's try it) and I utilized the free 10...

Re: Neurologist Has No Clue

Thank you both for your replies, and for your support/understanding and ideas. Sorry for delay have been busy (and groggy!) I would happily travel to Jacksonville for proper care and will look into that ASAP. Yes it really is unfortunate that this class of medication of which there is no substitute ...

Neurologist Has No Clue

Hi all - I'll try to be as brief as possible and give the Readers Digest version of my situation. Officially diagnosed pretty severe RLS a bit over 8 years ago, by excellent sleep doc in Los Angeles. Tried all 1st and 2nd line medications, to no avail, arrived at wonderful solution with 5mg Oxycodon...

Re: New member Hello! And Questions

Thank you to you both for your replies sorry for the delay in response. I have tried Kratom, I ordered a powder form and it didn't do much but upset my stomach and make me feel kind of funky, mood-wise, the next day. There is a Kava joint that sells a pre-made tea that works a lot better but not gre...
