Re: Just Starting
I am taking Horizant along with the ropinirole. I have started to augment on ropinirole (upped my dose twice in the last 2 month)s. The doctor is hoping that it will reduce my dose of ropinirole. The headache was the worst of the symptoms. It took well over 24hrs to get rid of it. Waiting on ferriti...

Just Starting
I have mentioned a little bit of my condition on other posts. I have created this new post because I have just started to be treated by a neurologist. I am already in need help and will probably need more as my treatment continues. I would appreciate any help alone the way. Just a quick background a...

Re: admins in the "Natural" section should not be taking med
I believe this can all be broken down to censorship. ” There shouldn't be admins chiming in with their opinion if those admins are taking meds, whether it be for RLS, depression, sleep, whatever”. People have a right to their opinion regardless of what topic, where it is posted, and what it involves...

Re: Ropinirole Side Effect?
So you have a much greater chance of reducing your symptoms before augmenting than after augmenting? After you start augmenting you are less likely to reduce your symptoms?

Re: Ropinirole Side Effect?
I’m not sure if I'm following this. My very limited understanding is when you get put on an opioid it will help you wean off of ripinirole. After a certain period of time you can lower your opioid dose as your symptoms subside. In time, if you have to go back on a dopamine agonist the dose is much l...

Re: Ropinirole Side Effect?
I know my dose is high (10mg/day) and I know it is commonly suggested to come off of ropinirole when the dose gets this high. I’m not sure why. When I tell my doctor I want to come off and get put on an opioid she is going to ask why. I’m not sure how to answer her question.

Re: Glutamate?
These are some glutamate inhibitors and there are others. Keep in mind that we don’t know what the results of Dr. Allen’s clinical trials will show. We don’t know if it will even confirm the need for a glutamate inhibitor. Finally, we don’t know if any of these drugs can be applied to RLS/WEB or if ...

Re: Glutamate?
There are glutamate inhibitor drugs available but they have not been applied to RLS yet (except gabapentin). Scientist have used glutamate inhibitors for the treatment of Parkinson’s’ disease for some time. RLS is in the same family of PD. The great thing about Dr. Allen’s clinical trials is if the ...

Re: Ropinirole Side Effect?
Thank you for the advice. I had email Dr Buchfuhrer about my current condition and he did agree with you that my dose was much too high. I haven’t had a neurologist but have finally set up an appointment with one on the 15th of this month. I started with a ropinirole starter kit 0.25mg,0.5mg, 0.75mg...

Re: Ropinirole Side Effect?
I have been on Ropinirole for 10 years (10mg/day) now. I take 4mg ~5:00pm each day. 2mg ~9:00pm. 4mg ~11:00pm before bed. I have RLS symptoms most days but usually can fight off taking an earlier dose. Sometimes I don’t show any symptoms during the day but take my meds at the usual 5:00pm. That’s wh...

Ropinirole Side Effect?
Has anyone had their medication actually set off the RLS symptoms? For example, I take my dose ropinirole and within 15 minutes my legs starts acting up. Around 1hr later it subsides and I’m good until the next dose or until my legs act up again. This doesn’t happen all the time but even once is too...

Humbling Experience
I am a newbie of about a month. When I first registered here I was hoping to help other RLS suffers. I have had RLS for 10 year so I thought I knew a few things. As I continue to find my way around the board I have come to realize two things. 1) Just how smart everyone is here. 2) I know almost noth...

Re: What Choice Is Better?
Well, I have ordered the book and downloaded the recommended articles. I have also sent of an e-mail to Dr. Buchfuhrer. I must say I am excited and looking forward to addressing this. Based on everyone’s advise and some of the articles I have already read, I know if my neurologist eventually doesn’t...

Re: What Choice Is Better?
Thanks so much for the links! I now will have the support that I will probably need. She may start me on gabapentin because that is how she started my brother off. That’s ok because in the end I can present your option. Looks like cold turkey isn’t an option. If most of you only lasted a few days th...
