Hi Garth, I'm so glad you posted that. There are many diseases that RLS is secondary to, and CD is one of them. I've been trying to post more about that here to encourage people with any history of GI issues or any strange symptoms that aren't diagnosed since CD can present in so many ways and it's ...

I really don't know who specializes in PLMD. Does he also have RLS or only PLMD? If he doesn't have RLS at all, he could have an ideopathic form or PLMD or it could be caused by something else. Here are some links (in case you are looking for information about it). If it were me, I might look at the...

I hated Ambien - of course others like it, but I thought it sucked. Didn't help my RLS at all (but not necessarily supposed to) and then you're exhausted and can't keep your eyes open with RLS. I feel for you. Ferritin at 15 is low. It's within some guidelines, but not for RLS patients. The research...

The only blood test that I know of that is important for RLS is the ferritin level. Was this test for your ferritin?

Here is a site that states what the values should be:

http://www.ironpanel.org.au/AIS/AISdocs/labq1c.htm

Hope this helps you some, as I'm not quite sure what number you found on your results.

I saw it recently but have not tried it, and probably will not. If someone tries it, it would be great to hear their feedback. The active ingredients are: Active Ingredients: Gnaphalium Polycephalum - for cramps and pains in calves and feet when in bed; Viscum Album - for inability to keep legs stil...

Carol Ann, it's not on any list I've seen, but that doesn't mean it's not possible. RLS is either primary (genetic, usually) or secondary, which means something else brought it on. The earlier it started, the more likely it is primary. There was a recent post on the many things that can cause second...

Congratulations. God, that first night of sleep after all the deprivation really feels good, doesn't it??? It is a noted fact that stopping Mirapex (not sure about the other ones) DOES cause escalated 24/7 symptoms for 3-10 days. Then, fortunately, it stops. I'd love to find out why, so after you re...

Sing it high, sing it low. . . Life is good sometimes. Who knows, maybe the office manager was just playing a political game. Or maybe she will quickly decide that it's not worth the effort to defend or be bitter about something when this man was obviously not a nice person. If nothing else, at leas...

Extended Release Requip Study - International

There is a new study for extended release Requip for people who have both evening and nighttime symptoms. Some have postulated that this type of fomula may prevent some of the problems that the DAs have. If anyone is looking for treatment and can't afford it, this might be worth trying. m Restless L...

Funny, just minutes after I posted this, Sliderdu posted about a thyroid test that came back positive and may be part (or all) of the cause of the RLS. I'm so happy to see that and it makes this post even more important. Anyone out there with non-familial RLS? No idea of what is causing your RLS, bu...

Secondary RLS

I've read different accounts in different articles and just reviewed at least 10 articles and sites to come up with the following list of diseases for which RLS can be secondary: Type II diabetes, pregnancy, iron deficiency, kidney failure/uremia, peripheral neuropathy, rheumatoid arthritis, folate ...

Hi Fidget, Have you had a chance to look at the Mayo CLinic Algorithm yet (when you were awake enough to read it )? It clearly states that if you experience rebound/augmentation on TWO dopamine agonists that you should not take them any more and should take something from another class. It goes on t...

Someone posted on the Yahoo board asking about getting meds through online pharmacies. Boy, did that stir a hornet's nest! I think a lot of people were worried about cyber cops listening in (or even starting the conversation) so they could arrest all of the wrong-doers. Unfortunately, that is a poss...
