... Even when in the midst of RLS, if I can stay focused on other things, it doesn't get a hold on me. The only problem is, you can't go to sleep while focussed. Falling asleep requires becoming unfocussed. A conundrum...... I think one way to rephrase the above is to say that RLS symptoms respond ...

Barbee, if you're into doing research, check out "dopamine agonist" This is a term for a class of drugs that enhance the action of a neurotransmitter called dopamine. (a neurotransmitter is a chemical in the brain involved in transmitting nerve impulses. Sorry, I don't know your level of k...

....I went to the doctor and got a cortozone shot in my foot. .... I'm not on meds yet. I had to take a blood test today for the new doctor I'll be working with. ... Welcome to the great adventure!! And adventure it is; not one we'd want to be on, but life sends us on strange and unwelcome journeys...

I'm sorry to hear about your insurance. I'm so thankful I had a great benefits package with the company I was with; after 15 years of service they pay 80% of the premium. Still.....I suppose they could drop that at any time. They're self-insured, so minimal regulations. Our friends in countries with...

You guys are going to think I'm absolutely nuts, and I KNOW the rest of the world will for sure, but I've discovered something that helps my mental state (if nothing else) SINGING No, seriously!! I've taken to singing and humming and not just periodically but all day long -- I'm really wondering if ...

I have had RLS as long as I can remember, would I even know what it feels like to be "normal"?????? Maybe this is off-topic, but sometimes I think I've forgotten what it's like to be "normal." Normal for me is pain and fatigue. Healthy people don't realize what chronic illness d...

I like the idea of third party advisors. I think the reason people are "nitwits" is because everything is done for them. The Medicare Part D was a huge fiasco when it first came out. Now that seniors have educated themselves on it, it seems to be running much smoother. The drugs issue you ...

Ann, if you want to, you can close this thread. My whole tack in throwing a semi-finished proposal that was overly complex and poorly explained was a mistake. I hope that by more clearly enumerating my goals it will open up people's imagination to come up with good ideas that can be incorporated int...

OK, I can see I'm taking the wrong tack here. My apologies for my grumpiness. I've started a new thread to just ask for your ideas:

Starting over: your suggestions for universal health

OK, let’s start over. Forget plan A. It was just getting too contentious on some forums. Let’s just start again without a plan but just asking for your ideas. Here’s a list of what I want to do. How would you go about making that happen? 1. Everybody is covered by health insurance. Strike “uninsurab...

I'm amazed at the negativity I'm encountering in the various forums I've posted this proposal. I can't respond to people who only nitpick from an attitude of negativism and don't want to give me or don't have any ideas for alternatives, so for everyone else, I'm posting this: How about approaching i...

Tried Lyrica and can't tolerate it. Along with Mirapex, Requip, and Neurontin. It gets frustrating. I am on my 6th medication. I just looked at my "Previous Medications" list and there are 36 entries there. (Those don't include the six or seven I'm on now.) Granted, I've got several other...

Oxycodone affects me like that, too, but hydrocodone doesn't. Hydrocodone helps suppress the twitchies and also helps me sleep. If you're not also taken the opiods for pain, I'd suggest researching Lyrica. It would be an off-label use for RLS so you'd have to do the due diligence to convince your Dr...

Before George Washington put on his general's uniform and had himself rowed across the river to Trenton, the Minutemen in their farm clothes and muskets took the first shots at the Redcoats. Every revolution has to start with the first shot. Maybe the first shot is just getting everyone used to the ...
