Re: Got my Iron Results!!

The numbers might make it difficult to get an infusion. I am self-taught and not sure of myself - - but your numbers fall within normal ranges except % sat is a touch low (usually 25-35% of the iron-binding sites on transferrin molecules are filled with iron, meaning the other 65-75% is available to...

Re: Welcome to luckyluke

Friday, November 11 Welcome to luckyluke, who has just been diagnosed with RLS. Luke is a male, 55 y.o. He used to race triathlon from age 30 to 52, stopped with covid in 2020. RLS started in 2021. He still exercises, but high intensity makes his RLS bad. His sleep is very good, so far, but sitting...

Re: Weaning off Ropinirole

Good idea to switch to the immediate-release version. Your GP is not the only well-meaning doctor who is totally ignorant of augmentation. It is not a common sort of thing in the medical world. How about you arrange appointments with both Dr. Koo and Dr. Winkleman, and if you get in to see Koo first...

Re: Need help finding the right meds for me

I agree with Steve, the only thing that seems to work on those of us who have augmented are opioids. Also, iron. Depending on your doctor, and your other iron numbers, you might be able to get an infusion. Horizant 300 and 600: I thought maybe it was the extended release that was making be tired all...

Re: Vein Clinic Consult

he asked me to wear them all day (not night) as well as elevate my legs above my heart for a bit each day and see if those things help. If they do he believes the stent will also help. This is the second time lately we've heard that raising the legs might benefit WED/RLS. (The other one: http://bb....

Re: Vein Clinic Consult

From time to time I notice an unusual tiredness, or slight lightheadedness, or extra anxiety. Maybe worrying causes all this. Any thoughts? Thanks. These are all things that everyone feels from time to time. It's easy for us to fall into a trap of scanning ourselves for symptoms and worrying about ...

Re: calcium

Not just any nuts, I think almonds are the highest in calcium - but soak them first to reduce the phytates. I agree with the rest of your post, but disagree here. It's true that almonds are rich in calcium, but they also have VERY high concentrations of oxalates. And oxalic acid will bind calcium i...

Re: calcium

There are conflicting views on this. This review https://academic.oup.com/advances/artic ... 63/4557950 basically says that the studies linking calcium to higher mortality (mostly from cardiovascular issues) are deeply flawed. To me, neither the science for or against calcium supplements is very co...

Re: Methodone

You mentioned good-quality sleep and that's always been an issue for me. I probably average 3-5 hours sleep a night, and even with that I'm waking up at least once. One problem most of us have is that we no longer know what normal is. You would probably feel like you'd had a really good sleep if yo...

Re: How does community feel about Horizant?

Horizant is a pro-drug of gabapentin, meaning it turns into gabapentin once it's been absorbed into the body. It was designed to eliminate the problems of erratic absorption that gabapentin has. Lyrica and Horizant/Gabapentin work against the same receptors, so if 300mg Lyrica doesn't work (which is...

Newbie forum poster here ... user name is karmamido and (until the wind blows me away) I'm on the Central Coast of California, USA. Wanted to "weigh in" on the topic here. I had never heard of these "weighted blankets" things in my life ... until about 6 months ago when my sister bought me one as a...

Ah, thank you. I tried it once, at bedtime. It didn't have any effect. I will try it a few more times just for the heck of it. I actually like the feeling. (It's a yoga pose, too!)

Re: MUSIC / FRISSON

Music is WONDERFUL and definitely you should return it to your life Paul. Especially since you can make music - you must return to that. I have read a number of articles about music therapy for stroke patients (after my dad had a stroke) and also for dementia patients (after my mom developed Alzheim...

Re: Vacation Reprieve

Me three (or four), I haven't found vacations helpful either. But, ever since I got WED/RLS, all my vacations have been the kind where you visit family. Also, some motorcycling adventures but they were moderately stressful. So maybe a relaxed but engaging vacation would actually help! I should try i...

Re: My one year anniversary on a low oxalate/salicylate eating plan.

@ Catcrazy23, sarahpatto, Restless Nana - - did you figure out how to try a new diet, how are you managing? I have wanted to try a low-oxalate diet for years, ever since Jim first posted, but it would involve giving up a lot of my current diet (plants & nuts). My current diet is more or less paleo, ...
