Re: Mad-1 device: I use it and it works!
Use of PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic fields, or pulsed EMF) on living tissues is also known as PEMT (pulsed electromagnetic field therapy) and MRS (magnetic resonance stimulation). It is different than TENS. A TENS delivers low-voltage electrical current to the skin and the tissues just beneath. In P...

Re: New Here, Need Help
PN is distinguished from WED/RLS by the lack of relief when the affected parts are moved. There is another disorder I thought of it when you mentioned that lying with your legs crossed triggers the worst pain. Something called positional discomfort. I don't think this is you, because a simple change...

Re: Energy and exhaustion
I hired cleaners in September. I had to face it; I cannot do a full time job and keep my house clean. Even with the cleaners, I barely find time to shop and cook. This disease is a life-changer, that's for sure. I am partly disabled, and have just admitted it.

Re: WE'D/RLS name
Ann, you blow me away how clearly you can put things. I too have trouble saying the new name. After experimenting with "wed", and "double-yoo eee dee", I have settled on "Willis-Ekbom". I will get used to it. I still am not comfortable saying it in front of my GP, but I...

this puts me in mind of a (former?) board member who hypothesizes that WED is caused by (or contributed to by) hyperactive foot-arch reflexes

Re: Beagle's Story and Questions
You can attempt to raise your ferritin by taking oral iron supplements. The sulfate or fumarate is generally more effective than the gluconate, but any of them should be taken with vitamin C to maximize absorption. There are many more drugs than those 4 to try for RLS/WED; check rlshelp.org or the W...

Re: zopiclone (imovane)
I use 7.5 mg nightly. Sometimes I take only 1/2 or 3/4 (it's hard to split in quarters) then take 1/2 later in the night. I cannot fall asleep without it (unless I load up on Sinemet, which is impossible to do many nights in a row without starting to augment). without the zopiclone, I doze for hours...

Re: Switching from Oxycodone to Hydromorphone ...
I also have the feeling that from this point on I loose my right to "complain" because I can at least sleep and do something productive over the day. I am not happy but I play "happy" and "I am making progress" to the people around me. I am unhappy with this situation....

Re: How do you feel about taking Opioids for RLS?
"I also wonder what other people will think when I tell them that I take strong opioids" My advice, from bitter bitter experience, is not to tell anyone you're taking opioids unless absolutely necessary, or unless you have built a strong bond of mutual trust. This would hold true for peop...

Re: New Here, Need Help
It is quite common to have PN along with RLS/WED, so you may have both.
You do not have an urge to walk about, but do you have an urge to stretch or tense up the affected area?
Does the pain or itch feel relieved at all when you walk or stretch or tense the affected area?

Re: Ferritin Test!
The key with augmentation usually seems to be the earlier start. As in Ann's example. So you might start noticing symptoms in the afternoon instead of just starting in the evening. It is also possible, according to the definition, for augmentation to be marked only by an increase in severity or a sp...
