Re: Is anyone else pretty debilitated by RLS?
After a bit of research on my own, I realized that I had all the symptoms of low testosterone, which is something that can occur with chronic methadone use but it was something that none of my doctors had checked. Blood tests found that my free testosterone levels were very low. I started testoster...

Re: Coming off Meds after IV Iron
I was augmented on mirapex, in that I was developing tolerance. My doctor told me that I’d need to deal with the augmentation before evaluating the efficiency of the infusion. Wanted to provide this information to others.

Re: Venofer (Iron Sucrose)
After my 8th session, I tried weaning from .375 mirapex to .25 but was not successful. I’m going to retry 4-6 weeks after my last session. They say it should work by 8 weeks AFTER it's all in. But I found it takes longer for me. I thought it didn't work when I had one of my first ones. At 6 or 7 we...

Re: Dipyridamole
No. My IV iron infusions resolved nearly all my RLS symptoms. I still have mild sleep problems which respond well to THC. I have considered restarting dipyridamole to see if it would take the place of THC to help me sleep, but haven't done that yet. Did the quality of your sleep improve as well? I ...

Re: Venofer (Iron Sucrose)
I don't have any experience with this, but the International Restless Legs Syndrome Study Group guidelines paper says in part 5.4.1 that iron sucrose "is probably not effective." If possible, it is probably best to use Injectafer (ferric carboxymaltose). If not available or too expensive, the best ...

Has anyone used this IV iron formulation and had success in treating RLS?

Re: Iron Infusion - decreasing dopamine agonist
Hello RLS community, First off, I want to say "thank you" for being a part of this community that has already proved to be an invaluable resource for me and others. I have an Injectafer infusion scheduled tomorrow and am thrilled at the prospect of a decrease in RLS symptoms in augmentation. I have...

Re: Dipyridamole
I started out on 75MG for 5 days, and have titrated up to 150 mg. At 75MG, it not give me insominia, but it did not control my urge to move symptoms well. At 150MG, it gives me pretty severe insomnia, but it controls my urge to move well; allowing me to reduce the mirapex i take. Both doses provide ...

Re: Coming off Meds after IV Iron
Generally takes 1-2 months for peak effect of IV iron, though there are some that respond more quickly. I waited until it seemed like the residual RLS symptoms I had while taking my prior meds improved. You can start tapering your prior meds when you like, just don't get discouraged if it has been ...

Coming off Meds after IV Iron
How long did you wait before coming off medication to see if the iron had any impact? Did you notice any differences while still on medication?

Re: Iron Testing & Inflammation
I get my Injectafer IV iron prescribed by a hematologist, but that is primarily because the large clinic I go to only allows hematologists to prescribe IV Iron. Many others have found that they can only get the iron prescribed by a hematologist. If the doc is willing to give you IV Iron with a ferr...

Re: Iron bloodwork
I think that you should fast. From my understanding, ferritin is incredibly sensitive; even coffee can raise your readings. I’m a patient of Dr. earley and he recommends that I eat nothing and drink only water for at least 12 hours prior to the test. He also told me not to eat a meat heavy meal for ...
