Re: Monitoring PLMS with a smartphone

With my long history with PLMD I find all this fascinating. Have to keep it in mind if I get a smart phone - hey maybe it's a good excuse to get one. I've had numerous sleep studies both on and off meds, as well as without and with use of a TENS Unit for my legs. I would love to do and document my o...

Re: Newly Approved Device - available in US

Alcharla - just a note to encourage you along this journey. I augmented on Mirapex several years ago. The transitions on meds have always been hellish, but ended up being the only choice. Kinda wish I'd been open to opioids instead of suffering so much. Good luck with finding what will work for you....

ViewsAskew, if you are the commentor named Ann - so very well stated! You presented our case in words that cannot be dismissed by the naysayers. Thank you for doing your part to correct error even outside this venue.

Re: CPAP

...after i began taking Methadone, I got another sleep test... I had now progressed to "central" Sleep Apnea and sent me an oxygen concentrator -- It has a thin tube of 100 oxygen that I put in my CPAP... Doety, I'm wondering if they also changed your machine type after the diagnosis of C...

Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)

Sounds like when you have a bad night it's really bad. I hate to hear that because I remember those times of torment all too well. Good to read that you have things in good working order regarding your sleep apnea treatment. Since you've got the very expensive machine, sounds like you have central s...

Re: Using the CP Relief Wand for RLS

@Phillips2768 Regarding the use of TENS, I was unable to get any relief using the electrodes on my legs. That made my RLS scream at me. However, once I started placing the electrodes on my lower back as when prescribed for low back pain, I found it calmed my legs from PLMD a great deal. It creates i...

Re: Requip

Having augmented on a dopamine agonist, I can't emphasize enough the need for a weaning process after being on higher doses of one of these meds. I chose to not wean and stopped abruptly and it caused some long standing neurological symptoms. I never took the weaning warning on meds seriously till t...

Re: CPAP

There are often limb movements related to sleep apnea that are a part of the struggle to breathe. Those should be delineated on the sleep study report. Those will likely resolve with CPAP treatment. Having limb movements observed on a sleep study is not the same as having PLMD. Movements from actual...

Re: anyone's meds have worked 5 years or more?

There are meds I've taken for over 5 years, but I can't say they actually worked the whole time as augmentation was an issue for me. I have for over 3 years now maintained a satisfactory degree of success calming my legs using a TENS unit.

Re: NOTHING is working

I have just today returned to this board after a long absence, so I apologize in advance for not being familiar with your whole story. In general I'd like to toss a few thoughts out there to take or leave as appropriate for your situation. #1 Have you been tested for sleep apnea, both obstructive an...

Re: CPAP

Wish I had seen this thread long ago, but I do want to give some input about the cpap. I use one for my sleep apnea. Are posters here saying a cpap was prescribed specifically for their RLS/WED and they don't have sleep apnea? I haven't been around here for a while and wonder if something is new? Fo...
