Re: Started gabapenten - no relief

Hi Holland! I am referring to the 900 mg from the ER. ... I slept from 3:30 am to 6:40 am last night. Took the gabapenten at 10 pm. I know it is very difficult right now and that you feel terrible. BUT you slept 3 hours last night, a clear improvement. In that case I would suggest you continue at t...

Re: Started gabapenten - no relief

I thought you got 900 mg when at the ER a few days ago. No problem with that? If no problem then why the hesitation about taking 900mg now? How many days have you been off the ropinirole? How much sleep did you get last night? Gabapentin helps both urge to move (jumpy legs) and sleep, but usually he...

Re: RLS from 12mn to 7AM on Methadone

2restless, It sounds like your husband is nearing the end of the usual treatment options. I was looking at your older posts, and it appears that your husband never got an approved trial of IV Iron. Iron Gluconate (the preparation he was getting last year) is considered by the International Restless ...

Re: Can some one help me please?

Says .5mg one AM and one PM I will not be able to take this before work, I think. Feeling queezy That's too much. Best to start with 1/2 tablet a couple of hours before bedtime. If you tolerate that for a few days, then increase if needed to 1 tablet. Stay at a max of 0.5mg in the evening. I'm glad...

Re: Experience with Injectafer?

... The problem is that most doctors are scared to do anything that is off label over here. Liability is a bit different here: It is almost impossible to sue a doctor if he uses officially approved meds, even if he made obvious mistakes. But anybody using non-approved meds could in theory be sued b...

Re: How long to wean off ropinirole?

Last night, I fell. I woke up on the floor. It was horrific. I went to my primary and she said "all I can do is perscribe Ropinirole. Go to the ER". I went to the ER and they gave me 900 mg of gabapentin and told me to see a specialist. Both refused to do blood testing or iron infusions. What shoul...

Re: Experience with Injectafer?

I should have emailed Dr B first. Why did I even bother with Johns Hopkins! Dr B has answered me positively; he is liberal with initial ferritin levels so I don't have to be under 100. I am calling his office tomorrow to book an appointment. :D While Dr B's main office is in southern California, he...

Re: Experience with Injectafer?

Fun fact: My RLS specialist who works in the neurologic center of one of the biggest university hospitals in Europe has no way of administering the injections, even though I convinced him (with difficulty) that we should try iron IVs. Apparently the IBD hypothesis has little traction over here. :( ...

Re: Experience with Injectafer?

...My only concern is that the recommended dose is Injectafer "2x1500mg in the US, 1x 1000mg outside the US" if I read it correctly. Huh? Apparently we need only 1/3rd of the iron? Ah well... Re: Can some one help me please?

Well for now, take the gabapentin. Does your mom take any other meds for RLS, or just the gabapentin? Another option until you see the doctor is medical marijuana. This doesn't usually help the jumpy legs, but DOES help sleep, MUCH MUCH better than regular sleep meds. If you can get that, use it wit...

Re: Can some one help me please?

James, Welcome to the RLS community. One thing you can count on... folks here get it. Mostly people without RLS just can't understand how devastating this disease can be. Unfortunately, RLS usually does get worse as the years go by. It would help us if you would tell us a little more about your trea...

Re: How to Increase Ferritin

Hello, newly researching RLS. Have seen low ferritin is a big contributor to symptoms in my readings. My symptoms are mild, but consistent over past 5ish years. I’m 36, female. Ferritin is 62. Last Year it was 35, despite no changes to nutrition. I’m not on iron supplements. I also have low normal ...
