Autoimmunes are hard, hard, hard to diagnose. My DH has celiac disease - they misdiagnosed him with Lupus before they figured it out and it took many years. I highly recommend a celiac panel before testing for other autoimmune disorders. It's the most common to cause RLS and can look like many other...

Em, you could send them an email. . .they do not have it posted on the message board, but on the main site, under Contact: rlsfoundation@rls.org

At least that way you wouldn't have to keep trying until they tell you it's fixed or maybe they can handle it in another way.

Gosh, Jan, you have so much going on. I hope the neurosurgeon visit brings some light to all of it. Maybe all of this is related to one thing and the helping it will bring resolution to the other problems. Do you any better meds to help with all that pain????? I think a sed rate ran indicate many di...

RLS is often secondary to autoimmune problems - celiac, diabetes, and more. When the primary problem is under better control, the RLS usually improves, too. KJ, are you already diagnosed with Lupus? Or are you searching for a diagnosis? You can self-diganose RLS, but then have to decide if it is pri...

Updates, please

I just realized that I've lost track of some of our members and have no idea of what's going on. Ruby, sounds like the baby is coming soon and all is going well. Also sounds like the RLS is not behaving. Is all else well with you? With work? It's been nice to see you around lately. Corrie, it sounds...

Em, just two more weeks - not even! Dr B is pretty confident that almost everyone can be helped. Because you are so sensitive to side effects, you may have to take small doses of several things. For example, .125 or .0625 mg of Mirapex and 300 mg of Neurontin and 10 or 15 mg of Methadone. Betweeen t...

Hi again, FYI, I haven't read Mr Yoakum's book yet, but Dr Buchfurer does have one coming out hopefully by the end of August. It is written clearly and concisely. It has sections specifically designed to help us help our docs to help us better (yikes! - think I could have said help one more time???)...

Ruby, of course Mike is behaving himself. It just depends on your definition of behaving! Good to see you. I'm not yet sure I'll get to San Antonio - but if I do, it would be great to see you. All of you, actually. Let's make it a party! None of us has any better way to spend out vacation time, righ...

Hi Ray, I agree with Becat. Your doctor needs to know that what you are using isn't working. I can propose some alternatives to hydrocodone. It is not in the strongest class of opioids and is not long-lasting. Since you have 24/7 RLS, one of the longer acting opioids might very well solve the proble...

Just one quick add to FB's post. Try splitting the dose. It often works to resolve the nausea.

FYI, is it controlling the RLS at this dose? If so, could you try a smaller dose?

Hi Caity, We don't get a lot of readers on the weekend - unlikely too many people have seen your post yet, and they may not really know what to say. It's so hard to diagnose someone else - it's such a personal feeling. By Monday, several others should have chimed in, too. The best I can offer is to ...

Em, I've lost 35 pounds since starting Methadone. Then again, I gained 50 with Mirapex, so I'm not back to where I started, but I'm not complaining. It seems that people addicted to opiates usually lose weight - the brain wants the drug more than it wants anything else. And, I don't think they are a...

Latest Research News

The following really is good news. It's still a hypothesis, but there are getting a LOT closer to finding out some key info about RLS. I wish I had the full article, but this abstract is better than nothing! m Restless legs syndrome (RLS) involves abnormal limb sensations that diminish with motor ac...

What a wonderful dinner. . .my best friend was coming over and I created a menu of things I knew she would like. Alas, she fell and hurt her knee. It is not bad, but she decided not to come. I wish she had been here, but DH and I enjoyed it anyway. Grilled salmon with a ginger/soy/citrus marinade an...
