Re: What Relationships?

I spent the last year mourning, grieving, and being depressed on top of the weight of the chronic illness stuff - it's been pretty miserable, Ann, so sorry to hear that you last year has been bad. I have had troubles the last few months as well and hopefully can get through next weekend since it wi...

Re: What Relationships?

Thank you Views.... Yes so much chronic illness. So debilitating. I've only been on the AD for one week and can only hope for the best. I had no idea you were poorly and so glad you are on the mend. I do hope it works, Betty. It hurts my heart to think of you feeling like that. For me, it was a cum...

Re: Augmentation & DAWS

Wow, this is all great to know & am so hopeful he’ll prescribe opioids for the withdrawal alone, not sure what plan is after roprinol cause I’ve tried gabapentin & side effects were too much on my mental health, etc-those class of drugs are not good for me. I sent my dr articles you sent. I haven’t...

Well, I made what is hopefully the last step to be ropinirole free: dose cut from 2mg to 1mg. At the present, keeping the gabapentin dose at 300mg twice a day, knowing it can be increased if necessary. It has not always been easy but I am pleased that I am almost finished.
Wonderful!

Re: What Relationships?

*gsurpur* I also wonder sometimes, what is normal. What would I be like without rls and without being stuffed full of medications. However it is some of those medications that somewhat control my rls. Coping with chronic medical conditions can be very debilitating and it is easy to become depressed...

Hi, My sleep specialist prescribed me this device as I live in California, unfortunately my insurance denied it.
To buy on our own, its $6000.00 including the accessories. I do not know why my request was denied!
OUCH! That is a lot of money. How frustrating that they denied it.

Re: Augmentation & DAWS

Hi Ali - What a difficult journey you've had - great that the tumor was benign. Welcome to the board and I hope you find the help you need here. As I understand it, most WED/RLS experts recommend decreasing ropinerole .5 mg every 3-7 days to prevent DAWS. Even if you wanted to be very careful, you c...

Re: Bariatric Surgery

Ann, I am in the process of determining if I am a good candidate and following the Medicare rules which require at least six months of a supervised diet. It will be at least June before a decision is made. In the meantime, I continue my weaning off ropinirole (getting ready to move from 2mg down to...

Re: Bariatric Surgery

HI Sue - did you go ahead with it?

My sister has mild symptoms - she had surgery a few years ago and never mentioned her symptoms being worse. Of course, I don't remember what she had done.

Re: Continuous movement vs spasm

Similar symptom progression: from classic need-to-move twitchiness to, twenty plus years later, sudden energy build-up—bordering on a cramp—in my hip joints releasing within seconds a powerful spastic kick. Happens in only one hip at time but left hip more often than right because I suspect osteoar...

Re: Cured

At age 51 my RLS is cured. I had a stone stuck in my billiary system-distal common bile duct. MRCP showed dilation in the billiary system. I had an ERCP to remove the stone. I can drink coffee and eat chocolate with zero RLS symptoms. As far as I can tell a stone can disrupt digestion which is why ...

Re: New-Asked to post about treatments

I'm back after what seems like a very long forever. I started weaning off of ropinerole in about mid July 2023. I had a false start after trying to start the course without a long acting opioid like Oxycontin. No Oxycontin due to insurance denying coverage. About mid August, the plan was changed to...

How frustrating! I moved from one US state to another JUST so I could be by a good doctor. When he retires, quits, or reduces his practice, it will be terrifying.

Re: Looking for RLS Doctor in Central New York

Was able to get an appointment with a recommended doctor on the RLS.org site, Dr. Durphy, who is a neurologist in movement disorders and specializes in RLS, and I was able to get in with her in May. I am hoping she follows the research of the other doctors on this site. What was the result, Macadwel?
