Re: Midnight Carbohydrate Snack

Hmmmm... lots of possibilities. In the research section is an article cited in which the researchers found that people with RLS have a much higher incidence of nocturnal eating disorder. http://bb.rls.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4749&p=72485&hilit=eating#p72485 Until I read that I assumed th...

Re: Cannabis

Lots of people successfully use medical marijuana for treatment of restless legs syndrome. There is lots of information in the non-prescription section. Briefly, only a few people can control their jumping legs with medical marijuana alone. A larger number are able to use medical marijuana to help w...

I find high THC medical marijuana helps sleep as well, especially when eaten.

Re: Going to try alternating... Opinions wanted

Hey ... My RLS has a big pain component. Probably that is why an opioid alone in my case is not enough and I also need the Carbamazepine. .... Possibly, however RLS has a separate sleep component that is distinct from the jumping legs component. I've only taken an opiate intermittently, not on a re...

Re: Going to try alternating... Opinions wanted

Regulations in USA make opiate prescribing by doctors more difficult, and just recently the FDA issued even stricter regulations. Opiates for other than chronic pain are getting more and more difficult for doctors to prescribe without getting into trouble. The evidence that opiates are needed for ma...

Re: Going to try alternating... Opinions wanted

Wow what a story. I'm really sorry you've had such misery. I've had RLS for over 30 years, however it is only been bad enough to require medications for the past three. The basic problem of best medicine versus side effects is really big for this disease. A lot of people don't realize that chronic n...

Re: Going to try alternating... Opinions wanted

When I tried DAs, I was tolerating pramipexole for about 2 weeks and when I tried ropinirole, I was not even tolerating one tablet. One month after the RLS diagnose I was treated with narcotics. Back then I was coming off of a high benzo dose, took all kind of drugs for my sleeping problems who did...

Re: Kratom- does it help with movements?

Yes. For me it isn't as good as prescription opiates, but has fewer side effects. There is lots of information in the kratom works for me topic. Definitely better for me at controlling jumpy legs than marijuana or gabapentin. Also helps with sleep. Kratom stimulates the mu-opiate receptors, same as ...

Re: Naltrexone (LDN)

Hey, the kratom wont work when you take it together with Naltrexone because Naltrexone as an opioid antagonist will block the effects of Kratom who is a weak opioid agonist. So you have to decide: either you take Naltrexone or you take Kratom but both won't work. Well, kratom stimulates the mu-opia...

Re: MM dosages? and intro

I'm sure there are doctors that will prescribe Methadone in the Bay Area, however I don't know the names of them. What did the Stanford RLS specialist you saw say about that? Also the recent to change to the recommendation by the FDA about the opiate prescribing may be changing the landscape everywh...

Re: MM dosages? and intro

... I happen to have on hand prescribed opium (paregoric) for control of diarrhea and started taking a small amount before bedtime. For two nights my PLMD has been minimal to non-existent. I am crossing my fingers as this is an easy fix for me, assuming it will work long term. .... Before settling ...

Re: Sourcing kratom- organic if possible / how to dose

Thanks so much for all of the great information. I ordered some. Do I have to have it with juice? Can I just make capsules out of it and take with water? It works faster if premixed with juice. I use grapefruit juice as the bitterness disguises the bitterness of the Kratom somewhat. I also find tha...

Re: Medical Marijuana

Well I'm 5-10 and 200 pounds. I tried 12 and a half milligrams THC two nights ago, one half of a 25 milligram caramel. I slept actually pretty well, however when I got up in the middle of the night I was so stoned I was a little afraid I would fall on the way to the bathroom. Didn't really seem to h...

Re: MM dosages? and intro

.... I did try the THC edibles at the recommendation of the marijuana doc as they were the only thing that made sense for maintenance issues. Like I said, just got stoned. .... That is the disadvantage (or advantage, depending on your point of view) of the THC edibles. The stoned feeling, assuming ...
