SO frustrated right now after visit with Dr. Walters

It's 8:30pm, and we just got home from a very long day up to Nashville (from Birmingham, AL) to have a Zoom meeting with Dr. Arthur Walters from Vanderbilt. (I had to be in the State of TN for the meeting. We thought it would be fun to go all the way up to Nashville, but it was too long a day.) Don'...

Mometasone and RLS

First of all, not sure if this post should go in the prescription drug board--but that seems to be prescription drugs to take for RLS, right? At any rate, I was rejoicing that starting up Lexapro again for anxiety and depression did NOT bring on RLS symptoms, but no sooner was that problem solved wh...

Re: Iron infusions vs Lexapro

Following up: I have increased my dose of Lexapro to 20mg and have not had RLS symptoms. I don't know if it was just agitation for a couple nights when I started. I was in a bad way with anxiety and depression.

Re: RLS, Depression and Anti-depressants

Just to follow up: I've been able to increase my dose of Lexapro to 20mg and have not had RLS symptoms. Mood is much better.

Iron infusions vs Lexapro

Wrote a lot as background but then deleted. To get to the core of the issue: I just resumed* Lexapro (escitalopram) 10mg to try to get my depression and anxiety under control. Was first given Wellbutrin but I felt sedated and sick (nausea, stomach ache) for the 4 days I took it. After 5 days of Lexa...

Re: RLS, Depression and Anti-depressants

As I just (re-)started Lexapro today, I wanted to take a look at the brochure mentioned, but the link doesn't work. There is a good brochure put out by the RLS Foundation on depression and RLS. It is here: http://www.rls.org/Document.Doc?&id=75 Tried Wellbutrin for 4 days and was a zombie: couldn't ...

Re: An encouraging word from my rheumatologist

Thank you! Haven't been on the site lately because of depression. But I don't want to forget to do this for my doctor. I appreciate the advice.

Re: An encouraging word from my rheumatologist

That's great, Steve! And I'll bet you're more coherent that I am about it. I can pretty much only hand out documents and hope someone will read them. I think I should get him that book--I'll bet he would actually read it. Thanks for telling me about it! Edit: they only have the book used and costing...

An encouraging word from my rheumatologist

To give some history, it was from this forum that I got the suggestion to email Dr. Buchfuhrer since I wasn't getting anywhere in trying to get iron infusions locally. My last hope was my rheumatologist who I see for systemic lupus. Dr. B wrote out what he would do, and sent a couple papers that I g...

Re: Sore thighs a symptom of RLS?

Thanks for the information. Sorry to hear of your condition--that must be difficult to deal with on top of RLS! With lupus, I too feel tired and don't want to do much. I have been fighting that and making sure I do at least 10 minutes of stretches even on my worst days. But I'm not 85, so will not t...

Re: Anyone go to Vanderbilt for treatment?

Well! I saw from the RLS.org website that there are 4 other doctors listed at Vanderbilt along with Dr. Walters, so I called to see if I could see any of them sooner than July 1, but it turns out they are ALL booked until July. I therefore have no reason to change to someone else--unless a cancellat...

Anyone go to Vanderbilt for treatment?

AND see someone other than Dr. Walters? I know he's the star, but the earliest I can see him is July 1 and then only by Zoom (and I have to be in the state of TN for it!). I could see anyone else in person and sooner. I mentioned this is an email to Dr. Buchfuhrer, but he pretty much said Dr. Walter...

Re: Sore thighs a symptom of RLS?

I am now having a lupus flare--although it has taken 4 days to realize it. Thought it was the flu at first. Certainly the worst flare I have had in over 18 years. So now I don't know at all what's what. I'm not feeling the thigh pain presently beause my joints all hurt at night. I really think a new...

Re: Is ferritin at 558 something to worry about?

Thanks, Holland and Deb. I think I might be having a lupus flare, although I'm not sure. But it doesn't seem to fit in any other category. I see my rheumatologist in a week about the high ferritin--his office requested it. I'm just afraid that he won't prescribe iron infusions with the ferritin leve...
