Count me in

I also do this, as did my grandmother and and does my mother. I only do it when the RLS is active, though. For me, it stops the need to move the legs and it stops the electricity feeling. When that doesn't work anymore, then I start walking.

Becat

Thanks again. I was on that page, but didn't see the link. Guess I was looking for a big heading that said REGISTER HERE!!!! I'm planning on registering in the morning. It will be great to meet you and any others that are there.

Thanks for the link

Becat I appreciate the link. . .goes to show what a little searching on my own would have done . I'm surprised no one was that interested in the topic, especially as several people have indicated additions. Well, it's my guess that no one knows what they are really doing by playing with these neurot...

Registration?

I'd like to go to the conference - if I book a flight right now, it's not too expensive. But I can't see anywhere on this site to register!!! If anyone knows how, please let me know. I don't want to book my flight until I know that I can register.

Addictions and RLS. . .

I was reading the "My RLS Mountain" posts from the last couple of days and I started thinking (dangerous, I know!). I used to be a smoker and have struggled with weight since I was a child. I absolutely use food (specifically sugar and fat) the way someone else might use drugs or alcohol: to self-me...

Re: Cover up?

Hi Pete, thanks for the welcome. Glad to be here. I read your post and wanted to add some thoughts. Mirapex caused considerable augmentation for me. Then it caused rebound. Then it quit working on the PLMs, but still worked on the RLS. When I started tapering off (at .75 mg), the RLS was often 24/7 ...

Hi Lyn

Hi Lyn, thanks for the welcome. I had some difficulty with the Mirapex immediately. The first night I took it, and every other time I had to increase it, I had an entire night of lucid dreaming. Now, I know some people actually want to do this, but I am not one of them! I also had severe augmentatio...

Sugar?

I've heard several RLS sufferers say that when they cut out carbs and sugar they get better. So, since candida and sugar are linked, it would make sense. Related to that, I was wondering if there's a neurotranmitter link in some way. For me, sugar is like alcohol to an alcoholic. I've been using it ...

My. . . .

Pete, the part about this working for you 70% of the time is wonderful. It's great to hear when someone can get some sleep by doing something. I was struck, though, with a sadness when I read it. It's incredible what we have to go through to find relief. I suppose I could have read into this the ten...

Alternating

I find it alternates over time. For months, it would start every afternoon in my left leg (I get mine in my thigh, not foot or calf), but in the evening it could be either. Most of the time I have it in one or the other but not both. Sometimes it's bad in one and minor in the other, but usually not ...

Walking

I've often been frustrated when someone can't escape themselves for at least a moment to see something from another's perspective. In the case of RLS or other chronic disorders, I believe that what prevents it is probably fear. When we are afraid of losing something, we become more closed. Families,...

Resolve

I haven't found the resolve to completely stop the Mirapex. Each time I've not taken it, I've gotten no sleep. I haven't tried Percodan, but have not had luck with diazepam, clonazepam, temazepam, or Vicoden. I've taken the max dosage of each of the benzos and while they work well when I am awake, t...

Wax and wane . . . or permanent?

Many people with refractory RLS started with mild RLS. I did. In fact, it was the augmentation from treating the PLMs that caused my RLS to flare. Since I first started taking Mirapex 2 years ago, the stats I've seen have gone from 5 to 10% augmenatation to over 30%. Probably because more time has p...

Re: questions

I took Mirapex for about 18 months before is stopped working; at that time increasing the dosage only increased the side effects! Because none of the drugs we take were actually developed for RLS or PLMD, it's often hit or miss. Drugs work, they don't work, then they work again, others make it worse...

My Partner

When I was young, my RLS only occurred a few times a month. With lifestyle management, I could control it relatively well. I'm not sure that roommates or the people I dated thought much of it; I didn't. The PLMD got worse first. I would kick my partner's shins in the night and wake him. We tried usi...
