And the dreams continue...

Night 13 on .125 Mirapex: Phew, the dreams are INTENSE! Rather entertaining though, and nothing nightmarish at all. Some morning sluggishness but no other side effects to speak of. Crossing my fingers,

Algorithm for Managing RLS

If you don't cruise around this site on a regular basis there's a new document available via the Announcements page called An Algorithm for the Management of Restless Legs Syndrome written by the Mayo Clinic. The direct link is http://www.mayo.edu/proceedings/2004/jul/7907crc.pdf Interesting stuff.....

Lorazepam

Sole,

I had great success for several years with lorazepam (.5mg) only for my RLS, but never took it more than two or three nights in a row. Can't really tell you about weaning off it since I never took it regularly. Best,

Sole, please refresh my memory (I'm being lazy...) - what's the klonopin for? Yes, it's rather ridiculous to be so excited about a little bit of sleep! Such is our reality...

Sinemet

I got relief with Sinemet for about 3 weeks before experiencing augmentation which manifested as RLS symptoms during the day, and it stopped working at night. I've switched to Mirapex and am having success. See the Sinemet & Mirapex threads for details. Best,

Mirapex

Night eleven on .125 Mirapex, a perfect 6.5 hours of sleep. I have not had RLS symptoms wake me since I started on this med. I had some paresthesia in my arms before the dose kicked in last night but it went away. I am cautiously optimistic that this is the drug for me (for now). May we all find sol...

Nadia,

It's so good to hear you're feeling better, after such a rough week. The hopelessness can take over when you're suffering day after day, night after night, with no relief, no sleep. I hope this new week brings you many things to smile about,

Coffee!

Ok, I agree caffeine can aggrevate RLS, but over the years I've personnally found no relationship between my one cup of high octane java early in the morning and increased RLS. The key (for me) is ONE CUP, not a pot full, and never any after noon. But boy is that cup GOOD! My two cents... Jumpy made...

Welcome Moonlight, sorry you have to be here! Nadia provided excellent information and links in her post, take the time to read, read, read. The more informed you are, the better. I have no experience with magnesium, but I think what you'll find is that there are many things to try, many things that...

Oh man, you have me rolling! Dreams about me dreaming about bears...cracks me up! I had more dreams last night, but can't remember them. Felt slightly less groggy this morning, and more awake this afternoon (might be the chocolate espresso beans...I know, I know, no chocolate, no caffeine!). No RLS ...

Jen, This is from the 2004 RLS Foundation Medical Bulletin (m) It's worth reading the whole thing: Features of RLS A. Essential criteria: These primary features must be present for a diagnosis of RLS. 1. An urge to move the legs, usually accompanied or caused by uncomfortable or unpleasant sensation...

Hey Jen, I've always had difficulty sleeping for many weeks/months post knee surgeries (9), particularly ACL reconstructions. I also participate on a knee replacement forum and inability to sleep after surgery is a VERY common complaint. RLS post-surgery has also come up for a few folks but seems to...

Mirapex Update

Night four taking .125 mg Mirapex at bedtime. Vivid dreams involving polar bears (you'd think they'd at least be brown or black bears for this Alaskan), and many other subjects I can't remember. It seems like I had one dream after another. Woke to my alarm at 4:45 in a drugged fog and hit the snooze...

Great idea, Jumpy, I'll start thinking of ideas and post soon. For now, count me as supportive and here's what' off the top of my sleepy head: Blood relatives with RLS? What steps have you taken to alleviate symptoms? What worked and for how long? Have you discussed your symptoms with your primary c...

I started Mirapex (.125 at bedtime) three nights ago and so far, so good. I'll report more towards the end of the week after I'm able to assess a regular work week. Not sure why my doc chose this small dose, but I'll certainly call her to increase it to .25 if it doesn't work. Best,
