Re: RLS friendly drug for major anxiety
I'm sorry I cannot offer any help with an RLS friendly med. Was reading back through some prior discussion. Am I correct that you currently are not treating your sleep apnea? If that is the case, just want to make sure you are aware that untreated sleep apnea is notorious for contributing to both an...

Re: delayed orgasm and RLS
Are you on any meds that could play a role? Dopamine agonists are often used to treat RLS - check out the list of possible side effects.

Re: Restless Legs Syndrome May Signify Bigger Health Problem
Hi Betty. Sorry to hear you're still suffering. Are you weaning off the Mirapex due to side effects or augmentation? Can't say for sure it would help you, but have you tried using a TENS unit? It's hard to find a doctor who will prescribe one for this diagnosis - mine was prescribed for low back pai...

Re: CPAP
Have had several sleep studies. Regarding CPAP, if your provider is not in tune to helping people succeed, it's harder to be successful. My first sleep doctor did as much harm as good, but a good sleep doctor is worth their weight in gold. While CPAP treatment wouldn't be my desire for my life, let ...

Re: New Member--Do I Have RLS?
What tests did the doctor order? I do hope it included at the very least a ferritin level, as well as magnesium and vitamin D. I'm sure some others could add more to that list. Has anything changed in your life since your symptoms started... started any new meds or supplements?

Re: more of a vent
You sound like me almost 10 years ago. I'm going to let those more familiar with dosing respond to your meds. Just in general, I can't help but wonder if a part of your daytime symptoms aren't from the meds. I'm guessing you had a sleep study 2 years ago when you were diagnosed with sleep apnea. I h...

Re: First time seeing a neurologist
ViewsAskew, thanks for adding that about PLMW. Been so long since I was augmenting and had daytime movements that I forgot they can be diagnosed even without augmentation - I think. Is that correct?

Re: First time seeing a neurologist
Could it be the doctor was saying one doesn't have PLMs during the day? If he said RLS, I doubt that's what he intended to say. My periodic limb movements at night caused horrible muscle and joint pain during the day, and I think it was exactly what your doctor said - my muscles never got to rest an...

Re: Article/interview w/Dr Buchfuhrer about augmentation
Question regarding methadone vs other meds - If one has limb movements during sleep, which meds best stop the movements? Years ago a doctor told me pain meds wouldn't stop the movements but rather, would help me sleep through them. Anyone knowledgeable about this?

Re: Topic of the Year
I just remembered something I probably should mention. You say you're aware of symptoms in a semi-sleep state. That could be be important. The worse our sleep gets the blurrier our perception of when we're asleep or when we are awake. What I thought was light dozing (Stage 1?) two of my sleep studie...

Re: Topic of the Year
S. Graves, just an observation... Historically your untreated sleep apnea kept the leg movements at bay, and resolving the apnea with cpap resulted in increased movements, right? If going off cpap resulted in your legs improving, doesn't that sound like sleep apnea is still present? If surgery actua...

Re: Topic of the Year
S. Graves, was reading about all the meds you've worked with trying to find relief. You've certainly got more experience with meds than I ever want to have. I'm glad you've at least got some idea of how to help yourself. One thing you said jumped out at me. You mentioned your RLS getting worse after...

Re: Sleep Apnea At home Kit.
I've been seeing the home tests discussed lately on the sleep apnea board cpaptalk. My takeaway on the home home tests is that they can diagnose sleep apnea if it sees it, however, a negative test result does not necessarily rule it out. Actually that's also true of an in-lab study. One has to have ...

Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)
Deb, when you say you are fighting your CPAP again, is it something about the CPAP itself? I remember when my RLS and PLMD were bad, I nerves were on edge and I hated anything touching me. Made using CPAP extra hard. I thought I hated using the CPAP, but found it quite tolerable once my other stuff ...
