Re: Approaching a Doctor
My husband and I each attended each other's medical appointments for the past few years. An extra brain was most helpful.

Re: Hypersensitivity to Caffeine
I'm hypersensitive to caffeine too and get laughed at when I order a decaf, trim milk latte, but I laugh along with the barista calling it a hot coffee milkshake. I wonder if we caffeine intolerants develop an anti placibo (nocebo) effect and can attribute a bad night to possibly being given caffein...

Re: What is "Good Sleep Hygiene" RLS Style?
I follow all of the sleep hygiene guidelines but nap when I need it. None of the tips, such as lavender or certain herbal teas, work. When I wake up I get up and read and stretch for up to an hour then almost always can get back to sleep. If I stayed in bed my legs would just get worse and worse unt...

Merry Christmas and everything else to everyone, and especially a happy 2017! New Zealand is just finishing Boxing Day, which while a legal holiday, is really just a great shopping day.

Re: Methadone complications - not medical
Thanks to everyone who had kind words to say about my loss. It happened so fast that it still seems unreal. QyX: At least my husband only spent six nights in hospital split into two different times. He was able to stay at home right to the end. And the funeral company offered me the choice of having...

Re: Methadone complications - not medical
Thank you, Steve. I'm sure there will with a few bumps along the way but things will be looking up. We were both optimists so there's no reason to stop now. My husband went down in 172 days from first visit to the doctor to his final breath which came very quickly after only about a day in a coma bu...

Re: Methadone complications - not medical
I, too, take thyroid medication and live in earthquake country. A 30 day supply is a good idea and my doctor would do it. As far as opiods go, thieves could be anywhere. My husband was on large doses of oxycodone and oxynorm for quite a few months. When picking up a script the pharmacist normally as...

Re: Newly Approved Device - available in US
Thanks for the kind comments and support regarding my husband. We made the move from our second floor bedroom to the first floor yesterday. Climbing stairs, even with two railings, was too dicey. Not good as the exercise was important but a fall would have been devastating. 3:20am now in NZ.

Re: Newly Approved Device - available in US
It's 3.30am and I've just done 5 sun salutations and downward dogs to relieve my calf pain. I've been awake with my husband who is in severe pain due to a growing tumor on his rib. Chemo has not worked, radiation benefit lasted less than a month. I will survive my RLS, he won't survive his cancer. I...

Re: Foundation webinar on genetics
Colorsteel is a brand of corrugated iron which comes in colors which are somehow part of the steel. It doesn't rust or degrade, at least very fast. We say we live in a tin house but it is very strong. Ours is a medium-deep blue and blends right in with the small mountain across the road from us.

Re: Foundation webinar on genetics
We are on the West Coast of the South Island, on a diagonal from the epicenters--yes, centers--there were two distinct quakes plus the hundreds (and lots more to come) of aftershocks. We woke up with the quake at a little past midnight. Our house is a two storey colorsteel house so it really rocked ...

Re: Foundation webinar on genetics
RLS runs in my family and I often hope my nieces and nephews don't get it but some will. A cure for them would be wonderful even if it is too late for me.
