Ann - I found that Mayo clinic link in the stickie, but all of the grahpics in the document are dead. I wonder if maybe someone from the RLS Foundation should contact Mayo and ask them to update their website? I have the Nightwalkers back issues, so I'll look for the one you mentioned. Thanks....

I want to phase out Mirapex, too. I'm considering suggesting to my doctor a combo of Methadone and Neurontin. I need to go prepared with some credible medical citations. If someone can supply links to some medical citations for this therapy and/or the protocol, I'd appreciate it. I haven't had much ...

I have FMS, I subscribe to that newsletter, and I can tell you that the SSRI's, commonly prescribed for FMS, definitely do make RLS worse. If you need an anti-depressant for your FMS, I'd suggest Wellbutrin. It has worked quite well for me without exacerbating my RLS.

Sorry, but I'm a newbie here -- what's this "Mayo Clinic Algorithm" I've seen referred to a couple times? Can sometime provide a link, please? Thanks.... :)

... you will find that all of the research points to use of opiods, benzos and drugs such as gapapentin as indicated for those who cannot tolerate the side effects of DAs. .... Yes. I need to take hydrocodone (Vicodin) for FMS pain and I've noticed it's also helpful in settling down my RLS. It's go...

I found this thread interesting because my doctor is unaware of medications that might exacerbate RLS. However, my own experience confirms this least, as I have tried almost all the anti-depressants for my FMS, and finally found one (and only one) that works: good old-fashioned Wellbutrin.

I had to ramp up to 2 mg four times a day before Requip did anything for my RLS, and at that dosage it made me nauseous and drowsy. I switched back to Mirapex, which only makes me drowsy.

GHB, eh? I looked into this about 10 years ago to improve my sleep cycle, and I thought that since then the FDA banned it as a date-rape drug. (which was all a bunch of BS, but then you can't fight the government) I just googled it: I see Xyrem is a Schedule III controlled substance. Good luck getti...

I also have FMS and tried Requip. I didn't notice any particular connection between Requip and my FMS symptoms; but then you know how they bizarrely vary from day to day for no particular good reason.

I didn't care much for Requip. It made me slightly nauseous and also I had rebound. Mirapex works much better for me.

......Yup go ahead and drug me and then for goodness sake tie me down so I don't move. Ha ha ... I actually had this happen to me. 12 years ago I had to have biateral knee arthroscopy. This was before I knew I had RLS. They planned to give me a spinal block. After the surgery I woke up very groggy....

I just dumped Requip and went back to Mirapex because of the side effects. I took it for about six weeks and the final dosage was 2 mg four times a day. That level did control my RLS, but the other side effects were unpleasant and didn't diminish with time.
