Re: sleep deprivation
I found adding dipyridamole to my combination of meds had a very beneficial impact on my general sense of well-being and of feeling rested and ‘myself’ during the day. This has persisted even though I discontinued dipyridamole after about 10 months. In general I would observe though that rls is a ve...

Re: New Kratom User - when to take
It does require some trial and error as it’s obviously optimal to take the minimum dose. It can be quite individual also. I would start low - one tablet about 30 mins before bed - and gradually work up. With rls it is better to address symptoms before they emerge. So once you know the dose that work...

Re: advice please
In addition to sometimes taking a while to kick in 50mg of pregabalin is a relatively low dose. 150mg is not unusual. I would second getting serum ferritin test and commencing supplementation if it is less than 100 (make sure to get the actual figure - not just that you are ‘normal’).

Re: Vick's!!! <3 <3 <3
I read a post on healthunlocked recently of someone who found that menthol crystals mixed into an acqueous cream and applied to the legs helped their RLS a lot. In the hope-springs-eternal mode, my amazon order of menthol crystals is winging its way to me as I type. I applied Vicks to the soles of m...

Re: Wahls diet for WED? Trying it.
So sorry to read of your worsened symptoms, Beth. I hope it turns out to be stress related for which at least there is an obvious (if not always easily achievable) solution. Also watch out for sleep deprivation - I think this can exacerbate RLS symptoms (in a cruel irony and easier to identify than ...

Re: Can I get augmentation using Mirapex twice a week?
I returned to pramipexole (mirapex) 18 months after withdrawing from a very high dose following augmentation. I stick to 0.088mg per day. At first I used it only 5 out of 7 days but now I take it every day and I take breaks every so often (one is due shortly which I am dreading). I supplement it wit...

Re: Cannabis
Hi QyX, There are a couple of strains mentioned in the incredibly long thread about cannabis started by NatWest. She mentions medical mass and also sensi star. I have also heard strawberry cough recommended. I am still searching for a strain that helps my RLS but haven't managed to source any of the...

Re: Nonmedication strategies for RLS by Shalini Paruthi,MD
I suspect that what Dr. Paruthi is referencing is that, in a most cruel irony, lack of sleep actually exacerbates RLS. I have seen this referred to elsewhere also and it is certainly my experience. After I withdrew from pramipexole following augmentation, I went into a spiral of no sleep and terribl...

Re: Relaxis
I have a relaxis pad. The results are very mixed and I would say probably not worth the money. It works well for my symptoms if I go to bed during the day and the legs start but at night time it rarely has a positive effect and sometimes it actually makes the legs worse. It is sort of soothing thoug...

Re: Cortisone Injection
I think I read a post somewhere by a man who used an anal suppository of lidocaine each evening and it helped his rls a lot. I haven't tried it ... yet - things are relatively controlled at the moment and it would require a certain level of discomfort to hoist me over the disinclination to take medi...

Re: Attempting to get off Ropinirole - again
Polar Bear, I think you should feel very proud of yourself for biting the bullet and going for it. You have achieved an amazing reduction in a relatively short period of time. Even though the withdrawal is so hard, the sense of taking back control from the drugs is an enormous compensation. Having b...

Re: Vibration helped me through the drug holiday
Sounds like an amazing trip. I have a relaxis pad. For some unfathomable reason it works on my rls if I go for a nap during the day but not at night. In fact, sometimes at night time I think it actually aggravates my rls. I do find it soothing sometimes to run it if I wake up in the middle of the ni...

Red wine is an invariable trigger with me. I hardly ever drink it any more as it always causes a bad night.

Sorry to hear about your bad nights, Betty, but very glad to read that you have virtually halved your dose of ropinerole. That is amazing. Go you!

Re: Experience with Injectafer?
That is wonderful news, Holland. Am absolutely delighted for you. It makes me feel more positive about my own situation as I am pretty convinced my rls responds to improved iron levels. It looks like I would have to travel to another country to get an Injectafer transfusion but would be worth it. I ...
