RLS & Dental Surgery

I'm having dental surgery tomorrow. It's an extraction of three teeth plus impressions for the temporary bridge and a filling. This will all take at least 2 hours and you can guess my concern. Yes, rls striking while I'm in the chair. My dentist and her staff are wonderful about accommodating me wit...

Re: Is it Only Me ?

That's the best plan. My husband will get the gift I mislaid for Christmas this year. I found it by accident this summer. It all works out in the end!

Re: Two very different doctors' visits

Ann, That helps me to know that about your experience on oxycodone. The sleeping for 45 minutes to an hour and up for a few is what I have been doing since the dosage change. I ended up taking 5 mg at 10:00 than having to take another 1/2 at 1:30 am this morning and just now got up at 4:00 to take a...

Re: Is it Only Me ?

Betty, It’s not unusual to see a therapist voluntarily here. There used to be a stigma attached but no more. I have lost 2 gifts before! They turned up much later. I’m surprised I haven’t lost more being so sleep deprived. We will attempt to finish decorating in thee next day or 2. Then the crates g...

Re: Is it Only Me ?

I can identify with the emotions expressed above. Sleep deprivation has changed my life and upset my routines and pleasures. Acknowledging this is the first step for me. I tend to paint a pretty picture on dismal situations. Well, I've run out of paint. I used to love decorating the house for Christ...

Re: Magnetic mattress pad

I find it frustrating when people insist that I try something that hasn't been proven to help. It is like a personal crusade with them. Just a mini rant here :)

Re: Two very different doctors' visits

I am currently on 5 mg of oxycodone for my rls/hip & back pain. I find that this strength, down from 7.25/3.25 is not very effective. I only get about 2-3 hours of relief and I am waking up with restless legs after 1 1/2 hours sleep. I am wondering what dosage anyone else is on with this drug an...

Re: Potatoes for Restless legs

I just discovered this discussion on cold potatoes. I bought a bag the other day so I'll be giving it a try. Living in Idaho where we are famous for potatoes it just makes sense. But I must clarify that we are not the potato state but actually the Gem State. In the south they grow potatoes and here ...

Re: Two very different doctors' visits

I know! Do they think we are lying? Or, that we make this stuff up? What really upset me was my primary care doctor telling me Mirapex wasn't in a class of dopamine agonists. I find it so frustrating to come up against this thinking. I'm thankful for my neurosurgeon and the PA for acknowledging that...

Re: Two very different doctors' visits

I just picked up my prescription for oxycodone. I had run out this morning and was without for about 12 hours. I have a tendency towards laryngeal spasms as a result of 8 weeks radiation to my larynx region. This followed surgery to remove my cancerous thyroid. I use a cough med to control these spa...

Re: Pending Opioid Withdrawal?

I massaged my PA that I had so many pills left and that I was ready for my next prescription. This was on Monday. I have one pill to get me through the night and tomorrow until she might electronically send it to my pharmacy. Hopefully she is acting on this. Last refill, I had to re-message and remi...

Re: Magnetic mattress pad

My friend is still trying to get me to try the Nikken product. She claims that there are products for restless legs containing ceramic fibers that provide instant heat. I will stick to my $20. heating pad and homemade corn bag for comfort.

Re: Two very different doctors' visits

I saw my primary care doctor for a respiratory infection this week. He asked how my legs were doing and I told him that I tried the latest med he prescribed, Sinemet, and that after 3 days my rls got worse. So, he said to double the dose! You can imagine my frustration. I will be seeing him again fo...

Re: A trick to help with car travel

For drives 45 minutes or longer I find that a heating pad designed for car travel that plugs into the cell phone charger helps. Mine is not very large and just covers my lap.

Re: Magnetic mattress pad

I have found this discussion interesting as I have a friend who uses a magnetic blanket for her back pain. She is urging me to try it for restless legs but I hesitate mostly because of the cost. Also I have a collection of items that are supposed to help but didn't. I'm going to decline her request ...
