hypnic jerks
When you are FIRST falling asleep, many people have hypnic jerks. They are common and benign. They consist of jerks of major body parts (and you are aware of them) and may include a feeling of falling. They only last a couple of minutes, and then you are in the next stage of sleep. Could this be wha...

Too weird
You know, I almost posted the thing about the eyelids, but decided not to. I actually looked up muscle tics and twitches about a month ago because my eyelids had been twitching for a while. Well, since about the time that the drugs stopped working and I stopped sleeping and couldn't get to the new n...

Agreed
Irena. . .well, RLS SUCKS! . I am typing this at 4 AM as I am unable to sleep and the RLS is rocketing through my right arm in addition to my legs. For me the are does feel different, not so much painful, but heavy. I move it in order to try and release the heaviness. So much has been written here a...

Re: worsening rls-help
Yesterday, this happened at the afternoon movies - going to an afternoon vs evening movie makes no difference for me and is not better. What kind of a doctor do you go to for help (I'm in Canada)? Should I bother going to a doctor to get it diagnosed or does it matter? Celia had great advice. I thi...

Hi JumpyLegs, welcome. You'll find some discussions on Mirapex in the Pharmaceutical Section. I know one of them is called Dopamine Agonists, I remember because I started it! In that thread I list some of the weird side effects I got. I just did a search and also found this one: m I took it for 2 ye...

Trial and error
The trial and error part is one of the hardest parts for me. It can take several weeks to titrate something high enough to decide it doesn't work. During that time, you can be crazily symptomatic. Then you get to switch! Or when things abruptly stop working. Now that's fun . Or keeping my little dru...

Less is more
That's interesting, Corrie. I think I've inadvertently figured that out. 4 months ago, I was increasing Mirapex to handle symptoms and was up to .75 in divided doses. . .result was 24/7 RLS. After being off of it over a month, I tried Requip. It didn't work, kept increasing it and had RLS 2/3 of the...

Re: I'm self diagnosed and my Dr's first RLS patient....
How do people feel about Requip? Is my Dr doing the right thing increasing my meds? Carrie Jan and Nadia had excellent responses. At the RLShelp.org site, you'll also find a link to the Mayo Clinic algorithm for treating RLS. (There's a link here, too, but I can't ever find it!) Take this with you ...

But. . .
Becat, you forgot the part about overeating. All that mushy stuff is nice, but this holiday is about food, darnit! Oh, yeah, I forgot that you don't like food. For those celebrating the US version tomorrow, eat well, be tolerant of the weird relatives that show up, and find some time to relax. Ann

Re: Sleep, day energy level, ability to focus, work producti
1. Does any of you had any iron tests to check out this relationship? 2. Do you have problems with work productivity, focus, and energy levels during the day due to your RLS? 3. I had RLS since I was just 5-6 years old. However, I never thought of it as anything "serious" but I realize it affects m...

ADA (in the US)
Getting disability status for RLS or other sleep disorders is very difficult. Many of us know, however, that chronic sleep deprivation leads to fatigue and cognitive function loss (among other things) that can make it very difficult to perform at work. I found this link on another RLS board to an ar...

Not anymore
OK, I've taken my last Requip. Yesterday my RLS started several hours earlier than it has been, and this morning I had incredible rebound. I had it for an hour or so after waking and then it "threatened" all day, By 2:30 I had to take drugs; now at 12:30 AM, I'm in a full-blown attack. I've taken ot...

Not necessarily
Augmentation is also a problem in at least 10 percent of those that take Requip. When I started taking Mirapex, is was only 10 percent. Now it is 30 percent. Not saying that I think that this means the percentage will change for Requip, just that it does happen. Augmentation is not at issue in our p...

two years
Not sure about lyndarae or Corrie, but I gave Mirapex 2 long years. As my dose increased to combat the augmentation, my side effects increased. The mood swings got more dramatic and more frequent. When I stopped it, they stopped and so did the songs. IMHO, meds that alter neurotransmitters are a cra...

Low
My triglycierides are very low. Is your RLS primary or secondary? Mine is primary and all my tests are always fine, even when I feel like **** I do think that some of us have food triggers, though they differ from person to person.
