Susan: my primary care is a nurse practitioner who I think is tired of dealing with me, had no knowledge of RLS and doesn't seem interested in learning. She has begun to respond to me IN ALL CAPS and extreme shorthand, which makes me think she feels I'm bothering her. Polar Bear: I brought the book ...

Met my neurologist

I wasn't impressed. He dismissed the idea that I could have had augmentation on Mirapex after less than 1 month on it. "People don't have augmentation on Mirapex." When I showed him the Mayo algorithm that I printed out, he said, "This says that some people have augmentation after 2 y...

Agreed, Beth. The month that the Mirapex worked was like an amazing vacation from RLS. I hadn't realized how much the RLS affected my whole life until I got a break from it. Now I'm on a "vacation" from meds until I see a neurologist, and the constant symptoms are pretty awful. I'm willing...

I was shocked as well. It didn't stop the muscle contractions much, it just made me sleepy enough I didn't care ;)

Yeah, I had no intention of telling anyone anything, until someone said, "Hey what's going on, you seem down." Even then I just said it was a neurological thing, but my jackass "friend" pressed me for details, then ragged on me. I think I'm going to take a break from this group o...

Julie, Please try not to feel ashamed about taking methadone. You're taking it for a medical condition, a serious one. Society freaks out about methadone because IV drug users take it, but it is used for so many other things. I think at least half the patients I see who are on methadone, aren't even...

So upset

I just hung out with a bunch of friends tonight, and when I mentioned what's been going on with the RLS and missing work and stuff, one of them kept ragging on me having "an imaginary disease". He kept it up all night, like he would suddenly rap a few times on the table and say "oh so...

At least now I know. After writing that post my symptoms got worse (dystonia, basically) and I wound up in the ER demanding something to fix it, at least temporarily. Benadryl worked, at least temporarily. Now I just have "normal" RLS symptoms, and joint aches from clenching the muscles so...

It is almost definitely augmentation, my symptoms are worse after an increased dose. Oh well, it was a good month on Mirapex while it lasted.

I think it is augmentation, it starts at 8 am and lasts all day. I can't raise my Mirapex until Thursday night, because that's the first time I'm off the next day, in case of side effects/drowsiness. These symptoms are driving me berserk! I feel like I want to jump out of my skin, while trying to ac...

I don't know much about RLS yet, but I'm sorry you're having a worse time with it now.

Cornelia, Thank you for posting, I was thinking I was crazy, having it in my arms. I think I can cope with this for this week, as I can ignore it while I'm focused on things, like work. My doctor told me to take a higher dose of Mirapex, which I'll try the night before my next day off (in case of si...

Yes, when my RLS got bad enough that I started the Mirapex, I had it in my arms and legs, all day long. But worse when trying to sleep.

Yeah, I just sent her a message saying basically that, and also asking for her to order a CBC and ferritin levels. The arms start up in the morning when I get up, and are worst when I'm at rest, just like the legs used to be. It doesn't bother me much at work. No time to notice it there! I think the...

Augmentation or something else entirely?

I've been on Mirapex 0.125 mg for almost a month now. It worked really well at first, and it still is working at bedtime. For the past 3 or 4 days, I've been having the restless ARMS again, all day every day, without the legs affected at all. The sensation is similar to the symptoms I had in my legs...
