Re: Little Pleasures
Thanks for the reminder to be kind to ourselves. Life with a chronic condition can use any good feelings however we may find them. I tend to do without things I would enjoy because once I ask myself if it's a need or a want, I've talked myself out of it. I need to give myself a break and allow mysel...

Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)
Just want to mention that I've experienced air in the belly when using CPAP, to the point it was quite problematic. Many machines have features for exhalation relief by lowering the pressure a bit on exhale. For some it's enough to resolve the problem. While my pressure is only 13, I got a bi-level ...

Re: A BIT OF FUN
This IS a bit of fun. Enjoying reading the stories. I've got so much pleasure from the remakes I've done on old things, especially furniture. Love the before and after and the transformation process. The uglier the item the more rewarding the makeover. While my motivator may be cost efficiency, ther...

Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)
Fortunately my mouth breathing was just due to habit and from years of compensation for the obstructions. I may have been better off to just go ahead and use a full face mask, but I really didn't want to do that. I took my mask off so many times during a night due to getting up with the jumpy legs, ...

Re: Riding the Big One (RLS 24/7, Hanging Ten)
I can relate to having necessary bedtime routines that at one time I thought I would never adjust to. The CPAP stuff is much less cumbersome these days since I am no longer a mouth breather and don't need to strap up to keep my mouth closed any more. Even after 4 years of using a TENS Unit before be...

Re: Child with RLS/PLMD
Hello and welcome. I can't add much to what's been said except to wonder about your child's exact results. With adults the ferritin level can be within the normal range but still be a problem if not in the higher end of that normal range. Maybe the lab reports show it or you can ask the doctor where...

Re: Catchy Stuff...
I had not seen this thread for a while. I see I'm enjoying some of the same things others are enjoying. A part of me loves this internet age, another part - not so much. It's like the wild wild west out there. For instance, there is a viral video out there with over 20 million views that says it's b...

Re: TENS stimulation for WED/RLS: Effective parameters
When I first tried using the TENS I tried just about every variation of leg and foot placement and it was like torture during my experimentation phase. Once I started using the electrodes on my lower back was the first I found relief. Has anyone else here tried using them on the lower back?

Re: Leg pain
Yes, circulation can be an issue, as well as other things. Has anyone observed you sleeping and said your legs move a lot? Some of us have a problem with periodic limb movements. The worse my movements are at night, the more uncomfortable my legs feel, sometimes even into the next day. The fact that...

Re: Retitled: Phase II, let it begin.
This thread is a perfect example of the treasure trove of tidbits hidden in some of the older threads on the forum. Guessing this one started when I was inactive here. I absolutely love the "circling the airport" illustration. Spoke to me in several ways. Thanks for that!

Re: TENS stimulation for WED/RLS: Effective parameters
@fixrls It's good to hear from a physical therapist on this. While I have successfully used a TENS for PLMD for 4 years I have done so with no professional instruction so it's been trial and error on placement and settings. After much error, I ended up using it as it was prescribed for low back pain...

Re: It IS about Quality of Life
In this place I feel my struggles are understood. We may not all have the exact same manifestations of our RLS/WED but we all understand the concept of misery. Glad you're getting some help to mitigate the misery.

Re: Who on here has both RLS/WED and PLMD?
I looked up Dr. Buchfuhrer and thought about attending one of the support groups he's affiliated with, but saw it's a 2 hours bus ride from me. Oh well.

Re: Who on here has both RLS/WED and PLMD?
I did see one site that said specifically that RLS excludes a diagnosis of PLMD. I think you're right that the experts still have much discovery to be made on the subject. Other sites leaned more toward if another diagnosis could explain the symptoms. Now this is just me thinking it through, by no m...

Re: Who on here has both RLS/WED and PLMD?
Looking for some official references on the diagnostic criteria. A sleep professional explained it to me several years ago on another forum but I'm having trouble finding the post. Their explanation led me to believe that there is a spectrum of limb movements and where one falls along that line is b...
