I'm not in the US or I'd have done the survey.

Re: HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY
I saw something good on Facebook. Everyone is Irish on St Patrick's Day except the Scots--they're still Scots. My dad was more Irish than the Irish and my husband was English but even he enjoyed St Patrick's Day.

Re: Horrible attitude from Primary Care Physician
My husband was from England. His parents moved to New Zealand when he was 10 so he wouldn't have to take the 11+ exams which decided the rest of your life. He also became a Kiwi when I did – after 60 years here! It was a very happy day. Every family (about eight) was presented with a native tree to ...

Sleepy Angel, that's a really cool name and it's fun to know how it came about. Mine is pretty obvious – I'm a Yankee-Kiwi and proud to say a citizen of both countries as of last year. It only took 30 years to get around to becoming a Kiwi!

Re: What Severe RLS is Like
When I have surgery, I always warn everyone. So do I and I, especially to the anesthesiologist. I'm emphatic and they listen because they really don't want any unnecessary drama during surgery. Long ago I was tied down during recovery and the nurse told me to lie still. I didn't know about RLS at t...

Re: New person from Maryland
Drinking plenty of water helps avoid constipation. Every morning I fill a one liter bottle of water, drink a 200ml (about 6 oz) glass of water before breakfast and several glasses during the day until it is gone. This is in addition to water taken with medicine and other liquids--tea, coffee, juice ...

RLS and shingles are both bad enough alone but together, it must be awful.
Just a note to everyone over 60--there is a vaccine to prevent shingles so if you have had chicken pox, contact your GP or family doctor to get a vaccination. Stress can trigger shingles and RLS is very stressful.

Polar Bear, good for you. I can't remember how many times people without a clue have told me how to treat/cure my RLS.

I'd like to hear how the tickling works after 30 days, not one or two. Many things seem to help for one or two days.

Re: Feldenkrais
For a few years my husband had Feldenkrais once a week. One leg was shorter than the other and he had mild curvature of the spine. Mostly he enjoyed the interaction with the practitioner and felt better afterwards but it had no real effect.

Anyone who takes thyroid medication should not take iron without consulting their doctor. Iron interferes with the uptake of thyroid medication. The thyroid meds would have to be adjusted and it could be a difficult balancing act.

Re: A trick to help with car travel
I used to be a passenger on long drives and would take a 60mg codeine tablet that prevented RLS symptoms and even helped during the following night. Now that I'm driving I am okay during the drive but almost as soon as I reach my destination I have fairly severe symptoms that I would have had as a p...

Re: Hypersensitivity to Caffeine
I guess that's why beekeepers can be stung a little over several or many years and then one day after being stung they swell up and can't risk being stung again. I used to be able to eat chocolate any time although the amounts were not usually huge unless really stressed. But it wasn't a good idea t...

Re: Infusion Update
That's a great result but with RLS there are so many variables. We are our own guinea pigs but you are doing a remarkable job keeping track of everything that will lead to a better outcome for you.

Re: Improved symptoms - what now?
Jack-in-the-box is a good description. I know I shouldn't try to ride it out, that it won't work and I'll have to get up and move to get it under control but sometimes I still try until it gets so bad I have to get up.
