Drug Holiday and other thoughts
Corrie, such wise thoughts. Less can definitely be more. This is so important. I think the idea of drug holidays NEED to be looked into more. Instead of upping our dose of a drug when it seems not to be working as well, many people are finding that taking a holiday from it for a couple of weeks allo...

Becky, sorry to hear you have RLS, glad you found us! IMHO, the meds you are trying are not the first ones a person should try. I'm guessing your doc is not a sleep specialist or neuro and doesn't know a lot about RLS. There are some great articles, links and info on this board that can help you hel...

What is it. . .an RLS Full Moon for RLS Foundation Chat Memebers??????? Brady can't get meds. Meds aren't working for Becat and Corrie and me (and probably others that I don't know about or can't remember). Jan can't get a doctor to see her and she needs one immediately. Most of us have or have had ...

Oh, I'm so sorry you're back to a bad place with this. I'm hovering, but it's not like it was, thankfully, and sounds much better than where you are. It just is threatening a lot and coming and going thoughout the day and night. During the day I can usually get away with little stretches and side to...

Mary, are you keeping up with your ferritin level? Just curious what yours are. I figure that it would take several years to get mine too high given how long it takes to increase it, but it can be dangerous to have it too high. It's great the the combo you're on works so well. Many people have had g...

Glad the iron helped. I wish I could say the same. I've been doing it for 2 months and my RLS is now worse than it was when I started. The Klonipin thing has me concerned. I started taking more because I was waking with RLS and insomnia (an effect from the Mirapex for me). But after a few days of an...

Too much press???
I was at an event recently and a lot of other people were there. During the evening, three different people came up to me to talk about RLS. They all said they had read about it or heard about it recently and that they had it or that their spouses had it. Case 1: Person that feels comforted by movin...

I have the mattress and it does NOT stop the RLS for me. It just helps my partner tremendously - he doesn't feel my kicking - and helps my body be more comfortable. I LOVE it, but would not recommend it to stop the RLS - at least if you have moderate of severe. Not sure what it would do for mild. Ann

If it were me, I'd call immediately. This could be rebound - where the symptoms are worse when the meds wear off. It isn't that common with Mirapex, but it does happen. If it is, in my opinion, you need to switch to a different med. Rebound that happens within a few weeks of starting is not a good s...

Jamie, have you been tested for any autoimmune disorders? They are terribly hard to pin down - sometimes it takes years to get a correct diagnosis. Of couse, I'm not a doc, but an option is Sjogrens. It can look a lot like fibro, lupus and other diseases. Although not a common symptom of it, some pe...

No relation, at least not from RLS to Parkinsons. Both occur in the same part of the brain, both involve dopamine. And if you have Parkinsons, you can get secondary RLS. But that's it. They have a completely different cause. Having RLS does NOT mean you have an increased change of Parkinsons. At lea...

Oh, Jan. Have you had any luck finding a new neuro? A rash all over. . .that sounds horrible. The doctor that said it's just stress should have his or her license taken away. Even if stress caused it, you have to solve the other problems to make the stress go away. Gee, I'd love to wave my magic de-...

Oh, Corrie, that is the scary part isn't it, that it won't work. I think I read somewhere that a portion, (20 percent?) of people had all symptoms go away, a portion had reduced symptoms and a portion had no change when the ferritin went up. And 6 months!!!! I was hoping for shorter, but since it on...

It's two months since I started the iron therapy. I started with a ferritin of 9, as of last week it was up to a whopping 18. I am glad it's up, but can see that I will not be discontinuing my current drug regimen for a while . I've had a few months of sleep, even though I still do not get any deep ...
