TENS Unit
My lead wires are both brown. My electrodes are all white. each lead splits to accomodate 2 electrodes. Are these positive and negative, or are both on one lead postive and both on the other lead negative? Gee, I'm seeing how little I know about this thing I'm using.

RLS vs PLMD
I think the random movements during periods of wakefulness getting to sleep and between sleep periods were suggestive of rls. I think it was saying I have more activity then than with the repetitive motions while asleep. (Note: "I think") But I was under the impression that the sensations ...

TENS Unit
My machine has some presets so I just push the button for lower back. I use it for about 20 minutes just before bedtime. I've played with the electrodes placement and tried numerous locations on the feet, legs, and back. I'm sorry, but I don't even know about postive and negative on the electrodes. ...

New Study
I'm new to this board (but not to RLS) so I haven't read your history yet, but now that I know, I plan to. Had some rough medication experiences myself. Looking forward to hearing your experience with this trial. I'm off all meds right now and using a TENS Unit, primarily for my PLMD more than the R...

Ice cream
All this about ice cream is new to me. Two family birthdays this weekend - guess I'll find out if it applies to me!
P.S. Betty, yes WV is wild and wonderful. My daughter moved to Glenville last year and I got to visit your lovely state.

Yet Another New to Site but Not New to RLS
Introducing myself... Dx with RLS and PLMD in the late 90's. Also have obstructive sleep apnea and use CPAP. Been thru Sinemet, Mirapex, Neurontin, & Requip (all with eventual side effects and/or augmentation). Currently taking no Rx meds (3 weeks) for the RLS/PLMD and seeking ideas for non phar...

Mirapex dose
I will have to find some old documentation, as it's been a few years and I'm afraid if I speak from memory I might not be accurate. I do remember that I was taking 4 pills, just don't remember the dosage of the pill. My memory is it was a whole number, but I'm just not certain. If I can locate that ...

Quitting meds for a study
Several years ago I was at a high dose of Mirapex for RLS and PLMD and experiencing severe augmentation. Had been considering giving up and changing meds, but did not plan to do it abruptly. Unwisely left on a week long trip and didn't have time to get my Rx refilled. After a couple days I thought s...

Iron for low Ferritin proved beneficial?
I am taking iron due to my ferritin level being at the lower end of the normal range. I have talked to someone on another board whose anemia gets so severe she periodically gets transfusions due to being unable to tolerate any oral iron formulations. She said she can tell she needs a transfusion by ...

Augmentation
I have RLS and PLMD. With medication my RLS improved by my PLMD worsened, and for years I thought the worsening was simply the progression of the disorder. Turned out it was augmentation - wild flailing that included arms, and some intrusion of the PLMD into wake time. It was a horrible few years. W...

Acupuncture
I recently had an EMG done and the doctor doing it was trained in acupuncture. He said a few of the points used for the EMG are the same as for acupuncture, and suggested if I got any relief at all from the EMG, I could be one who would benefit from acupuncture. In looking back at my sleep log, the ...

Chinese Herbs
You are in a bit of a awkward position, as those who believe in something can be very insistent. Having that person be family is even worse. I actually agree in principle that non pharmaceuticals would be ideal, however, even non prescription herbs and supplements can be dangerous in the hands of a ...

Experimenting with TENS Unit
Hi. I am new to this board, but not new to RLS. I also have Periodic Limb Movement Disorder. I came to this site hoping to hear from anyone using a TENS device to treat their RLS, because I'm hoping their experience will be transferable to PLMD also. I've run the gamut of meds in the last 12 years. ...
