It sounds like you have Periodic Limb Movement Disorder (Sometimes called Periodic Limb Movements in Sleep). Many people with RLS also have PLMD, although they are two separate disorders. It can be treated with medication. For mine, I take Neurontin and have had good luck with it. Dopamine agonists,...

Are you kicking at night after you have fallen asleep? If so, you might have Periodic Limb Movement Disorder (or Periodic Limb Movements in Sleep) in conjunction with your RLS. DAs (the kind of drug you are currently on) often work to control PLMD, but sometimes a higher dose is needed for PLMD than...

I was on Requip for about 2 years before I augmented and it worked very well. I had only occasional breakthrough and I was able to use it alone. After I augmented on Requip, I tried Mirapex and augmented immediately. Now I do not take a DA at all.

I will be holding you both close as you add yet another concern to your list of health issues. Hopefully, surgery will resolve one of your health concerns and that can be one less thing on your mind. Be honest and open and firm about your needs (refuse to be dismissed!) and I just know things will w...

Corrie, I wonder how one would know if she were augmenting from Ultram. I've trid to come off of the Ultram before and my RLS alwas came back when I lowered the dose. But, that could just be withdrawal, such as I experienced coming off of the Requip. Further, if I am augmenting from the Ultram, what...

I'm on a fairly high dose of Neurontin (1200 mg) and I haven't experienced any negative side effects (of which I am aware). I use it to control my PLMS, whcih was fairly bad and is now under complete control. I use it in conjunction with Ultram for my RLS. Neither works alone, but they work very wel...

I have had good results with Lunesta, but I typically need a higher than recommended dose. If your doc is willing to write it for you, I would say you should give it a shot. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth (the only bad side effect I experienced) and I didn't experience any hang over the next da...

Have you considered one of the drugs that have been approved for chronic insomnia, such as Lunesta? It should not lose its effectiveness over time, as it was designed and has been approved for long-term use. Ambien CR is also approved for long-term use, but some folks on the board have had some bad ...

You poor dear! I think there are a number of us that can sympathize with how you are feeling right now. There is no one right answer as to how we getit, or why us rather than someone else. There are a number of causes of RLS, from genetic causes to disorders that cause secondary RLS, to certain medi...

I don't know how to find a doctor who would help. I went to a neurologist a while back (whose name I got from the RLS website) and it was a complete disaster. I'm not really sure how to go about it at this point.

Exhaustion

I am really at my wit's end. My RLS is back to 24/7 and has gotten significantly more severe over the last few days. It really feels like augmentation, but I am on Neurontin and Ultram and I think augmentation is reserved for DAs. My doctor refuses to help me because I am so young and she doesn't wa...

Welcome, gilly. I'm so sorry that you are suffering with RLS symptoms. I would highly recommend that you consider making an appointment with another doctor as it sounds as though your current physician is not particularly informed regarding RLS. Another option is to do some research on your own, pri...

Amy - I was on Requip for about 2 years and it made a huge difference. But the I augmented (where the medication actually makes the RLS worse) and had to get off of the Requip and experimented around and am now on Neurontin and Ultram. When I have symptoms in spite of the medication, I find relief i...
