Re: More on stopping Mirapex (sorry....)

I know everyone will be glad to hear the news: I SLEPT LAST NIGHT!! Six and 1/2 hours, but better than nothing (which is what I've gotten the last seven days). I know that when I got off Suboxone after 9 days of not sleeping, there was no looking back. Then I slept for 12 hours, then the next night ...

Re: More on stopping Mirapex (sorry....)

7 nights without Mirapex, or maybe it's six, but it feels like a million. I can't tell that I'm sleeping at all. Last night, I took 10 mg of Methadone and it made my legs go faster. It never used to do that. I've already taken 5 mg. tonight and don't think I'll take more than that. I don't think I c...

Re: More on stopping Mirapex (sorry....)

If you go on Google and just type in "Glutamate RLS" you'll get a bunch of stuff. Dr. Allen -- the doc who's at Johns Hopkins that so many people on this board like, led the study. I've heard about the whole inflammation thing and how you're supposed to cut out sugar and white flour, etc. ...

Johns Hopkins Study on Glutamate

m. The new study -- and a whole new way of looking at WED -- was published mid-May. Hope everyone will take a look and post what you think. I had never separated WED and insomnia -- I thought they were one and the same. I've heard people on this board talk about the wonderful Dr. Allen -- he is invo...

Re: Glutamate?

That's the same article I got those quotes from. This is exciting. I was also glad to see that they understood augmentation. I've been doing what I can to investigate-- since I'm using Google, I'll have to separate the wheat from the chaff. I've always made fun of the gluten-free craze, but omg, may...

Glutamate?

Here's some quotes from the mid-May publication: The results of the (Johns Hopkins) study could lead to developments in the way RLS is treated, potentially helping to eradicate sleepless nights for people with restless legs syndrome. Dopamine-related drugs do work for many people with RLS, yet some ...

Re: More on stopping Mirapex (sorry....)

Four nights off Mirapex; no sleep last night. Tonight I'll try Methadone. Last night I took Tramadol, then used some marijuana, no luck. I just ran into the wall, 5 minutes did it again. I was stupidly walking around with my eyes closed because I'm tired, cried a lot. I'm useless I wanted to rese...

Re: More on stopping Mirapex (sorry....)

I don't think it's silly -- what's silly is to pretend we'll live forever! I worked in a hospice for a year (as a volunteer), but that's another story. I've filled out the "Five Wishes" form, about how I'd like to be treated if I'm incapacitated. I believe that events in our life, like tri...

Re: More on stopping Mirapex (sorry....)

Thank you and I promise I will. At this point, I'm hoping it might ease the transition off Mirapex. I'll report back on that. This may be morbid, but I think it's important. I've already left directions for my daughter about what to do when I die, including people to notify. This discussion board is...

BAD person

I feel like I'm coming here to confess my sins. For the last week, I've been trying the one night on Mirapex, when I got good sleep, and one off, when I had WED all day, all night. Then I stopped completely and had full-on WEDS, no sleep. Told the doc I had a bottle of Tramadol, never opened. He sai...

Now, what?

Thank you so much for your posts. FYI: I'm watching CBS This Morning....a story on pleasure. A researcher says SLEEP is always at the top of the list of what gives us pleasure!! We could have told them that..... I figured you would say what you did. But I love my doctor -- he's willing to lis...

More on stopping Mirapex (sorry....)

It seems to go on and on and I guess we need to start a new thread pretty often. I'm augmenting and need to get off it. I've been taking Mirapex every night, then every other night taking Tylenol 3 or Vicodin. Talked to my neurologist, who doesn't have much experience, but is willing to work with me...

Re: How do you deal with restless legs during the day?

I put a small exercise bike in my office, in the corner so you couldn't see it unless you came all the way in. I could talk on the phone, read papers, etc. I also used one of those exercise balls to sit on, and being able to move around helped. Except my boss kept stealing it.

Re: Altitude?

Sometimes we find docs who think we're slightly tetched in the head.
We should look them straight in the eye and explain to them about leg essenses...and don't they know about that???

That's hilarious. It'll have to do for now.
