Re: Vacation Reprieve
That vacation high will correspond with a subsequent crash when you come home - in both dopamine and endorphins. What goes up must come down. Pretty much how it happens. I've also never found any easement on vacations especially those that start with long haul of 9 hours. Followed by two weeks with...

Re: Decades of RLS getting worse
I'm experiencing dependency issues that creep up in the afternoon, making me jittery and irritable. I am considering a spinal cord stimulator to eliminate the need for oxy, but it's hard to justify an implant without clear data (even anecdotal) as to its long-term efficacy for RLS. Something you co...

Re: Norfolk Virginia physicians
You might have to go farther afield if you can't find someone nearby. There is an RLS Quality Care Center (QCC) at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, but I'm not sure if they are accepting out-of-state patients. There is also one in Pittsburgh. https://www.rls.org/treatment/quality-care-centers Even tho he...

Re: new to forum
I would suggest not weaning yourself off. I could tell I was getting better simply from how I felt. If your symptoms are not 100% covered by the pregabalin, then you too should notice an improvement at some point, and can reduce the dose when you notice that. If you reduce beforehand, you will have ...

Welcome to bak
Welcome today to our new member, bak, who may have had mild WED/RLS their entire life, but was diagnosed less than a year ago. Bak is 75, and the WED/RLS is bad enough to limit sleep to 2 hours at a time, 4 hours a day, and travelling is miserable. Bak wants to continue flying 2x yearly to visit a g...

Re: Methodone
I'm hoping with the methadone that since it's a long acting one I won't have that problem - probably will have a different problem, right? You're right that you shouldn't have a daily withdrawal with the methadone , but hopefully you're wrong about the rest! You never know. There doesn't seem to be...

Re: Chi machine
I wish on your neuro a severe dose of WED/RLS for about 6 months and the knowledge that that is what s/he caused you to suffer. How cool that it migrated back to your shins! Mine changed a year or two ago from bilateral to left-side-worse, and sometimes only left side. Maybe I need vein surgery ( re...

Re: Chi machine
Oh I wonder why I never saw this thread before? I bought a Chi machine years ago. (Some day I should list all the devices I've bought to try to get relief from WED/RLS). I never tried it sitting in a chair, since they recommend lying down on the floor so as to let your whole back weave back and fort...

Re: Opioid Tolerance
I know exactly why the panic is setting in, but it's ok, you don't need to go there. There is a solution for this sort of thing. It's not a perfect solution, but you can live with it and even have a good life. Ann (viewsaskew) has been doing it for years. You may need to take scheduled holidays from...

Re: Methodone
I was taking 15 mg long acting oxycodone in the evening and it worked to help me sleep, and the first 3 days I had no RLS and was so excited... but the 4th day the RLS came back in the morning and throughout the day, and even though the oxy wasn't helping the RLS it still made me too tired during t...

Re: Ropinirole
jblackburn67, I don't think it will be that different. You might find - for example - that 0.8 mg IM is needed to match the effect of 0.7 mg ER. I suspect it will be a small difference like that. I am basing this on my experience with ER and IR opioids, so it might not be relevant. We'll see what ot...

Re: Melatonin added to the mix
Thanks for the reply, Beth. I do have a spouse, but I might at least be able to work it so when I get up in the middle of the night I only see red light. I currently use a headlamp with a red setting but it is very weak. I did recently start using Luminette 3 glasses (blue-enhanced white light) in ...
